Did you know.............Buffett was born in Ohio?!

Post by ToplessRideFL »

I was talking to a client in Ohio yesterday. Somehow the conversation turned to me living in Florida..and he said "Man I just HAVE to see palm trees 3-4 times a year". I said.... Hmmm that sounds like something a Parrot Head would said... so you like Jimmy Buffett's music? He says...oh I am the biggest ParrotHead.... Did you know JB is from Ohio? Of course I advised him of the correct location of JB's birth...and Date. He kept telling me I was wrong.

Rather than to fuel the conversation, I said... are you going to listen to the show on Radio Margaritaville tonight? He was at a loss.... never heard of RM...at which point I explained the deal.... I also told him "I think your confusion about Jimmy being from Ohio stems from the fact that Timothy B Schmitt coined the Parrot Head phrase in Cinci...."

It got me to thinking that those of us here know alot about Jimmy.... but there are pr'olly bunches of folk who love him and / or his music as much as we do but dont participate in places like BN or other buffett info sites, or go to shows or join PH clubs. But ya know...it doesnt make them any less of a fan.

And it warmed my heart to get an email from him this morning....

Susan.... you changed my life! The concert was awesome..TY so much for telling me about RM. And guess what...he closed with He went to Paris!!!

I smiled and thought that was just about the best way I could have started my day!!! But PS.... I didnt tell him about BN

It would be nice if he was born in Ohio - would love to claim him as a Buckeye. Would be even nicer if he was coming back to Cleveland this year!
After his concert at Jacobs Field years back I'm not surprised they didnt ask him back. Was the first and last concert to ever be held there - after the show the baseball field was runined - right in time for the Indians trek to the World Series!

Yep - not only was he not asked back, no one was ever asked back. I also recall something about fires on the field....must have been some home made tiki torches.

Or gasoline-fueled propane grills...

Your client reminds me of the " parrotheads" who try to impress me with all
their personal Buffett connections... most of which are quite laughable.

I am just curious what happened because as I remeber the field was covered.

I have just assumed he is coming to Pittsburgh and not Cleveland because he is like every other person on earth and would prefer to be in Pittsburgh, or anywhere else, rather than Cleveland...lol!!!!!!

It just hit me that two of my favorite artists, Jimmy and Hank Jr were raised in Mobile, Alabama, and both spent time in Montana.
Come to think of it, it would have been a lot better if Jimmy and Hank and no one else would have covered Hey Good Lookin' on LTC.

What happened was they set up the stage a few days early and the grass under the stage turned yellow from the lack of sun!!!! :o :o BIGG deal! It was a INCREDIBLE CONCERT AND A WONDERFUL NIGHT IN CLEVELAND!!! ALSO, IT WAS THE FIRST BALLPARK CONCERT THAT JIMMY EVER DID!!!! So just like being the first place that Jimmy ever sold out , Blossom Music Center, Jimmy's words not mine, CLEVELAND set the precedent for all ballpark shows to follow!!! :D :D :D LIKE, MAY I SAY ,PNC PARK in PITTSBURGH this Sunday!  Just some good natured kidding!
