Jay Z (Sean Carter) is now the head of Island Def Jam, which is based in NYC, and was founded by the incredible Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons back in 85. IDJ is also part of Island Records, which is ran by LA Reid. Both have great pasts in the history and development of the current music business.
IDJ/Island is one of our parent companies, along with Mercury Nashville. We are all under the large umbrella of Universal Music Group but in a way IDJ and Mercury are our surrogate parents.
read your own words. Carter is prez IDJ. IDJ is one of Lost Highway's parents. Therefore, Carter (partially) owns Lost Highway.
Let me put it this way, maybe you can understand it now.
the head of Lost highway = Tiki Bar, phjrsaunt, NYCPORT, any other mod.
Jay-Z, head of IDJ = phjim
head of UMG = who ever is above phjim, if anyone
I didn't write that so those aren't my "own words". And I stand corrected he technically does own Lost Highway but the fact that he doesn't take an active role in it indicates the job of actually running the label is someone else's responsibility.
you are right about that. techincally he does own it, but he has nothing to do with it. lets just settle on that.

That was just as much in reference to "Hank rolling over in his grave" as it was to the "Jigga" reference which you must admit appears to be a variation on a racial slur.
that's besides the point. Don't be a hypocrit and tell me to do research when you accuse me and dont even do the research yourself
I did and "Jigga" is indeed a variation on "Nigga" which
is a racial slur depending upon who's saying it. When one African American refers to another (or in this case, themselves) that way it's not considered offensive.
If
anyone says Jigga, they know that "Jigga" isn't a racial slur but rather a stagename for Jay-Z. Google "Jigga". Go to wikipedia and search "jigga". All your results will aim towards Jay-Z
If you actually did do the research then you wouldn't be accusing me of being a racist because Jigga is Jay's other name, nothing racist at all.
Show me where you did
research and found where the name "Jigga" is racist. You won't come back with any results.
Just admit that you were wrong.
Jigga = shortened term for Jiggaboo = Racial Slur
Jay Z just tried to make it cool.
With that said, please stop using that freakin' word and please please please stop saying it's not a racial slur, because it is. It's extremely offensive and you're too dense to know better.
in this day and age, i dont see how thats racist. Its not something you call anyone anymore. Its what Jay-Z calls himself, its what kids call Jay-Z, its probably his best known stage name. Google "Jigga". Nearly every single result will point towards Jay-Z. I dont really care if you dont want me saying that or not, thats what Jay-Z wants to be called so ill call him that. On his own website, he refers to himself as "Jigga" (
http://rocafella.com/artist.aspx?key=1& ... rrent=true) If it offends you so much that kids are calling Jay-Z "Jigga", then you can write to him and explain how you feel. If anything, you should be much more offended that nearly every rap song includes the words "muthaphucka" or "nigga" and refers to women as "bitches"

a word does not suddenly become not-racist. just because a person calls oneself that, does not make it not racist. you trying to argue that it's not a racial term puts me completely beside myself.
it doesn't offend me that kids call him that. it's the word itself. Jay Z and whatever is in other crappy-rap-song lyrics is fine because I can choose not to listen to it. (I won't even get into the fact that dumbass parents shouldn't be letting their "kids" listen to that music anyway).
so are we going to argue about this all day or can i go get some lunch?

I'm not going to admit that I'm wrong because I'm not. No where in your explanation of Jay-Z's nickname did you elaborate on the meaning behind the word "Jigga" except to say that it's his nickname. So, what does "Jigga" mean? From my research it derives from "Nigga" which is indeed a racial slur no matter how you wanna slice it.
Here's his All Music bio where I gathered "Jigga" is just another word for "Nigga" especially regarding the title of his single "Jigga That Nigga":
