Dylan To Release Next in Bootleg Series

Post by Jahfin »

On August 30th, Columbia/Legacy will
release No Direction Home: the Soundtrack, the seventh installment
in the critically acclaimed Bob Dylan Bootleg Series. The two CD
set, which will be available at physical and on-line retail outlets
across the country and around the world, will serve as the oundtrack
to Martin Scorsese's highly anticipated, two-part film biography of
Bob Dylan, scheduled to air on PBS in late September. No Direction
Home: the Soundtrack comprises rare and unreleased recordings from
1961 ? 1966, as well as revelatory alternate takes of classic tracks
that were unearthed during the making of the documentary, and will
include an extensive booklet with rare and previously unpublished
photos, memorabilia and newly commissioned liner notes.

The previous installment of the Bob Dylan Bootleg Series was Live
1964: Concert at Philharmonic Hall ? The Bootleg Series Volume 6, a
two-CD set documenting the all-acoustic, October 31, 1964, Halloween-
night concert by Bob Dylan at Philharmonic Hall in New York City.
Volume 6 of the bootleg series was released in March of 2004, and is
presently approaching platinum sales status.

Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1988, Bob Dylan has
sold more than 90 million records since his 1961 debut. He has
written more than 500 songs including the indelible lassics "Blowin'
In The Wind," "The Times They Are A-Changin'," "All Along The
Watchtower," "Like A Rolling Stone," "Knockin' On Heaven's Door"
(written for the soundtrack of Sam Peckinpah's "Pat Garrett & Billy
The Kid," which also featured Dylan in his first acting role in a
major film), "Tangled Up In Blue," and many others. Dylan's "Things
Have Changed," composed for Curtis Hanson's "Wonder Boys," earned
him both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award in 2000 for Best
Original Song written for a motion picture. A recipient of the Grammy
Lifetime Achievement Award (1991), Dylan has received eight Grammys
including Album Of The Year (1997 - Time Out Of Mind) and Best
Contemporary Folk Album (2001 - "Love and Theft", 1997 - Time Out Of
Mind).

A 1982 inductee into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, Dylan has
received many awards over the course of his career including the
ASCAP Founders Award, the Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement Award
(presented to Dylan in 1997 by President Clinton), and the
Commandeur de L'Ordre des Arts et Lettres, the highest cultural
award bestowed by the French government. With songs covered by more
than 2000 artists and the sole subject of more than 500 published
books, Bob Dylan was first nominated for the Nobel Prize in
Literature in 1996 and has been short-listed for the prestigious
award every year since.

With a reputation built on the strength of his live performances,
Dylan continues to sell-out venues across the globe; since 1988, he
has consistently played no less than 100 shows a year, performing
for a diverse range of audiences.

The Bob Dylan Show is currently on a tour of minor league ballparks
with special guest Willie Nelson.
