This way if windows crashed I would access linux and fix the windows mess. I used to be good at this stuff but haven't had to do a recovery in over a year at least.
there you go.
Right now, I am getting ready to make the jump from a 10 gig (mostly system), 20 gig data drive (that made funny noises and then scary noises); to an 80/160 setup. funny thing is, 4 years after putting in the 10, the price of the 240 is less than my initial outlay.

Best Buy actually has 250GB drives (several brands) at under 120$ right now. They're sold out online, but some of the stores have a couple left.
The 400GB is at 254 right now. By Christmas, I'm betting they'll be under 200.
Cripes, I remember when 1GB drives were over 800.00. Of course, I remember when no one thought you would ever need more than 100MB hdd. Now I feel really old.
LOL Remember what Bill Gates said about home computers ?
"640k ought to be enough for anybody."
-Bill Gates, 1981
*sigh* yes, I actually do remember that. I remember full programs coming on a diskette, 5 1/4 floppies, programming in basic, oh dear lord I feel like I should have a cane. I also remember cel phones requiring a bag to carry the whole unit, and laptops that were nearly the size of a tv, and servers that took up nearly half a room and required water towers for cooling.
What a long way we've come.

I remember the diskettes, 5 1/4 floppies, and cassettes, the bag phones and more. I had a TI-99-4a.( still have it and I used a tv set as a monitor, games loaded on a cassette player and or a cartidge that plugged into it.)
I had friends that had Commodores ( and not the music group)! I remember the old TRS -80 too!

I need a little help too....the 'moving parts' of BN have stopped moving: like avatars that blink, flash, etc. I noticed this first several weeks ago when the emoticons don't blush or cry or roll their eyes anymore. How do I fix this? thanks

Depending on what it was, it could have infected and forwarded anyfile or email from your puter to everyone on your contact list
i don't keep a contact list just because of this. They found trojan horse and java byte virus. I've just been really busy. Twin sons graduated from highschool two weeks ago and I had family in town for 3 weeks during this doing the shore thing. So I kept thinking I"ve got to deal with this and didn't. I called alot of places to fix this. They all quoted me 200. I might consider going computer shopping in that case.

I had both of these. I still remember whenI bought a 1 gig hd. It seemed so ridiculous and it was expensive.

Damn! 200! I have to remember that the next time my brother in law/mother/mother-in-law/various neighbors breaks their machine. I usually just ask that they buy the pizza and Coronas.

I've never been good about remembering my medication.
And now I have to "Dew" Shane and change Frankie's last name to "Pepper" and call him Dr.
I think they'd like that too much.

Nope not since "viagra" came out!! LOL
Seriously nope, those I don't remember. One guy had an IBM something or other that I never got to spend anytime on....all I remember about it now was that it was a tower type thing and had lots of flashing LEDs.
I think the first "real" PC (besides the "Trash-80" I ever saw was an Apple in a store that a bud, was thinking of buying,.... that was hmmmmm around 81 or maybe 82. I got the TI-994a in 83.

OK. That comeback was way funnier when I thought it in my head a few minutes ago.

How did I get dragged into this? I was just sitting here, reading my PETA newsletter, and thinking about what a friend I have in Jesus - why do you feel the need to associate me with your heathen innuendo?
