I think I must now resort back to the original SPEW and stop hijacking this very useful thread.

Now do you remember 8" floppies

Nope not since "viagra" came out!! LOL 8)

Seriously nope, those I don't remember. One guy had an IBM something or other that I never got to spend anytime on....all I remember about it now was that it was a tower type thing and had lots of flashing LEDs.

I think the first "real" PC (besides the "Trash-80" I ever saw was an Apple in a store that a bud, was thinking of buying,.... that was hmmmmm around 81 or maybe 82. I got the TI-994a in 83.
I still think one of the coolest things I ever was able to see regarding older computer technology was back in the very early 80's my dad was able to take me to work for a sort of family tour, back before security was such an issue, and I was able to see one of the very early Cray supersystems. It took up nearly a floor and was surrounded by water towers. Now they take up less than a rack's worth of space. Amazing.

OK...now my avatar isn't visible, just an X there. Should I start getting paranoid? Good gosh. :o

The url for your avatar pic says http://www.via-texas.com/images/square-mango-small.gif

If you try to load that separately, it takes you to this message:

AHA !
So it IS a conspiracy! Oh well, I quickly googled my name and decided it was time to go with chocolate. My 'moving parts' still aren't moving. I've deleted cookies and entered from the front door and cleared my history and logged out and in and out and in again, but to no avail. If I don't find an answer here on the forums, I'm gonna take the direct route: email the admin. bwahahahaha 8) 8) 8)

Got a popupblocker of some sort running? Some of them have the ability to block animated gif action, as well as any other type of motion graphics.

I just tossed a whole dumpster full of diskettes, 5 1/4 floppies, cassettes (the kind that were just like the music ones) and the hardware and software associated with some really old systems

I bought my first computer the year I started law school, 1991. It had a 20MB hard drive and cost $2500. Imagine what you can get for $2500 today.

What kind of software? I'm just curious since we're reminiscing.

Though I will admit, I still have a dos boot disk that'll at least get me in to fdisk a machine when all else fails.

Ahh dos....I miss dos....and unix back in the day....when email used to be on pine and elm.....and printers were the size of small cars.....:)
