Original Little River Band Members Continue Fight for Heritage
Recognition

by Paul Cashmere

Founding Little River Band members Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock and
Graeham Goble are still the centre of an American legal system farce
which is stopping them from promoting their heritage.

The original members of Little River Band perform these days as
Birtles, Shorrock, Goble because member Steve Housden, who joined the
band in 1981, owns the name and, according to Graeham Goble, is
preventing them from promoting their history.

"We've had legal hassles with Steve Housden who owns the trademark
name LRB. Steve has put a court injunction against us which makes it
very difficult for us to go there (USA) and openly promote that we
were the founding members of the Little River Band" Graeham Goble
tells Undercover News. "We have to be a bit careful of with what we
say and what we do. We are trying to just get to a point where we can
go to America and promote our Full Circle CD and DVD".

'Full Circle' was released this week in the USA.

Housden has also stopped a DVD documenting Little River Band from
being released. "It's been stopped" Graeham says. "We have a
documentary finished which tells the whole story of Little River
band. It was called "It's a Long Way There'. It has fantastic
footage. The first time we went to America Glenn took his home movies
and filmed everything. He has us leaving Tullamarine and arriving in
America. We put that through with new interviews from Beeb, Glenn and
myself. We had it sitting at EMI. We were about to release it when
Steve Housden's solicitor rings up and says "you aren't releasing it
because I own the name". Now we have all these DVDs of the story of
Little River Band and we can't release it".

The current status of the DVD is permanently on hold. "It is not
coming out ever unless Steve has a change of mind" he says.

Regardless, Birtles, Shorrock, Goble are preparing for a US tour if
they can put a few legal issues behind them.

This week, they are on tour in Australia, preparing for the overseas
jaunt.

Tour dates are:
21 June 2005 - The Forum Theatre, Melbourne
23 June 2005 - Star City Casino, Sydney
24 and 25 June 2005 - Twin Towns, The Gold Coast

The setlist from the Melbourne show on June 21 demonstrates the
heritage of the band. They played:

That's sad. I wonder what the OTHER side of the story is ?

Umm Rick... I was just joking. I always hated that song, and given that Goble is on the losing end of this legal dispute, I thought it would be funny to claim it was karma for writing (and inflicting) Reminiscing on us... Sorry.

it's basically an Aussie Rules rehash of the case where John Fogarty was sued for sounding too much like CCR...
