What would you cook Jimmy for dinner?

Post by buffettbride »

If you could invite Jimmy and Jane over for dinner, what would you cook?

Would you have it catered or do it yourself?

What do you think Jimmy would enjoy eating at your house?

What kind of music would you listen to?

What kinds of drinks would you serve?

Would it be a formal sit-down or outdoors on the patio?

Would you take him out to a restaurant or entertain him at your place?

Assuming you would not be completely awestruck in his presence, what kind of dinner conversation would you fathom?

I haven't quite decided everything myself, but I would most definitely entertain him at my house and do everything from starters through dessert. I'm sure it would involve some kind of cheese and pie, though. I'll give this some more thought for myself and come back to it, but tell me what YOU would do.

If you could invite Jimmy and Jane over for dinner, what would you cook?
I'd prepare swordfish or lobster, twice baked potatoes, asparagus, and a house salad. A good bottle of wine to compliment the fish.

Would you have it catered or do it yourself?
Do it myself!

What I said I'd prepare!

What kind of music would you listen to?
Probably a mix of new stuff, jazz, good ole rock and roll.

What kinds of drinks would you serve?
I'd offer anything we have, but preferably a good bottle of red wine.

Would it be a formal sit-down or outdoors on the patio?
Outdoors on the patio

Would you take him out to a restaurant or entertain him at your place?
My place with a few close friends.

Assuming you would not be completely awestruck in his presence, what kind of dinner conversation would you fathom?
I'd like to hear his view of some of the politics going on. Also I'd like to hear about his family and how he got where he is now.

I've always dreamed of this happening! Wouldn't it just be so cool!!

I would serve maryland steamed crabs and steamed shrimp, a seafood buffet of course!

Would you have it catered or do it yourself?

One of the local seafood places would steam the seafood for us.

What do you think Jimmy would enjoy eating at your house?

Something healthy, I assume?

What kind of music would you listen to?

Little Feat, Bob Marley, Jack Johnson

What kinds of drinks would you serve?

Water, Corona Lite

Would it be a formal sit-down or outdoors on the patio?

Patio (if I had one)

I would talk of tales of our local waterways and seaside towns. I'd hope to get him to talk about his travels around the world and I'd love to ask him about his bi-plane and boat travels.
I got a carribean soul I can barely control and I gotta go where it's WARM!

If you could invite Jimmy and Jane over for dinner, what would you cook?
pork chops, mashed potatoes & gravy, and some good ol' Iowa sweet corn. Fresh strawberries from our garden & ice cream for dessert.

Would you have it catered or do it yourself?
I'd definately do it myself.

What do you think Jimmy would enjoy eating at your house?
probably any kind of seafood.

What kind of music would you listen to?
Anything by Bob Marley and/or some of my tropical jazz C.D.s

What kinds of drinks would you serve?
For Jimmy, Jane, & my wife, a choice of red wine or any of about 20 different brands of beer we have here. For me, it would be Corona beer, since wine gives me headaches.

Would it be a formal sit-down or outdoors on the patio?
Definately outdoors on the patio.

Would you take him out to a restaurant or entertain him at your place?
Either option would be an honor, but I think it would be AWESOME to entertain him at my house.

Assuming you would not be completely awestruck in his presence, what kind of dinner conversation would you fathom?
Since I've been to about as many places as he has, I'd LOVE to compare stories with him about our various travels. I'd also like to hear about his family, what he does on a typical day when he's not on the road, and just what makes him tick.

What kinds of drinks would you serve?
Sweet tea, rum drinks, and beer, but if he wants something else, I've probably got it. :pirate:

Would it be a formal sit-down or outdoors on the patio?
If it rains, we'd have to move the patio table inside, because I don't have a table inside. :pirate:

Would you take him out to a restaurant or entertain him at your place?
Definitely my place. :pirate:

Assuming you would not be completely awestruck in his presence, what kind of dinner conversation would you fathom?
I'd really like to hear more about his early days in Key West. I'd also talk to him about pirates and some of the local coastal history here. :pirate:

I'd fix him Frogmore Stew, like they were eating at Folly Beach in the video TATS. And we'd talk about South Carolina, Daufuskie Island, Pat Conroy, Tom Corcoran, Randy Wayne White, journalism, short stories, his kids, Jane, concerts, memorable people we've known and places we've been, Key West, Paris, and wherever those conversations took us. We'd drink Margaritaville Tequila and Captain Morgan Rum, or whatever exotic liquors we could find around surrounding this dry county.
It would be bliss. We'd listen to RM on Sirius, cause it's GOT to be his favorite music!

Great question!
