Contrary to popular belief I have as much a sense of humor as anyone but I've never found joking about putting a bullet in someone funny at all. Put the shoe on the other foot for just a minute and imagine someone on here joked about putting a bullet in Jimmy Buffett. Not funny, is it? Nor is it funny when applied to either of the surviving Beatles.

I honestly don't think a week goes by where my husband doesn't joke about that... it must be de-sensitizing me.

That doesn't make it any less cruel, or acceptable. Joking about putting a bullet in anybody has never been funny. If it's deemed acceptable now than our society is way more screwed up than I realized.

In his case, it's always good for big laughs... I don't know if him and his circle of friends can speak for society as a whole however.

Oh, and I agree that it's not less cruel or acceptable, or a joking matter... I'm just used to it.

So, if someone came on here an joked about putting a bullet in Buffett it would be deemed acceptable? Just as, apparently it's acceptable to joke about putting a bullet in Michael Stipe and Paul McCartney?

I can only speak for me... I'm desensitized on the matter of joking about shooting people, even though I don't condone violence or threats of such. Unfortunately, I hear it often enough, by people who I know are joking, that I shrug it off.

I cannot generalize to deem anything acceptable... we all have different tolerance levels.

By the way, the bullet and Buffett on a Billboard Chart would be one acceptable scenario.

Shooting people is ok as long as its in a video game, but however that video game better not have any hidden minigames that include cartoon sex-thats just offensive and will screw up our children-

it's not gonna be a bullet that does Jimmy in anyway.
Judging from his track record I'm betting on a plane crash. <--note the smiley

The theory is that God loves Ringo Starr so much he doesn't want to "take him home".

a) Ringo joins the band as a drummer. This is after a better drummer decides he doesn't like the travel. -- Band Hits it Big.

b) Band later disintegrates, because the creative types all have egos the size of Montana. -- Ringo, just cashes his royalty checks.

c) Ringo decides to put together "The All-Starr Band", and musicians flock to play with him. -- Ringo makes money and keeps the dream alive.

d) Ringo makes a lousy film, (albeit after a string of lousy ones with his bandmates, but we won't go into that) called Caveman. Ends up with a gorgeous babe falling in love with a big-nosed, funny-lookin guy who was a drummer. -- Ringo is still married to said babe.

e) Ringo gets to appear on "The Simpsons" -- The dream is still alive for a kid from the north.

f) Ringo produces own line of credit cards, based on personal artwork. -- critical acclaim for talents previously unlauded.

So... in the end.. a funny-lookin' guy from Liverpool makes good. No knighthood, no tabloid fighting over whether his kids are at war with his new wife, nothing but clover.

Yes, God loves Ringo, and Paul McCartney is just preparing for the end.

while most of the time I haven't really cared one way or the other about where you stand relative to other members of the board Jah, this time, I gotta ask, "Is it true that you can call dogs from 4 counties away after a couple bowls of chili?"

It was a joke. Dark humour, sure. But a joke.

Yet another annoying tactic of some BN'ers, when all else fails totally avoid answering the question.

I hate to get involved in another Jonathan-arguement, but you say that as if you're better than "BN'ers" . . .

It was answered. perhaps not in the fashion you desired, but it was answered.

As yet, you and I haven't really had any reason to start p*** in each other's cheerios. I can keep it at that level if you're amenable. If not, I can join the club that sees you as a fussy, whiney, tight-a$$ed prig whose only contribution is to copy and paste music stories from other stories without adding a lot of content or value. Up to you.

If it was, I missed it. Please elaborate on how a joke about putting a bullet into anybody could be deemed funny.

Yet another BN'er with a selective memory and one that continues to bring up subjects that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the question at hand. Must be nice to live under a rock. How about crawling out form underneath it and answering my question and while you're at it, try your best to do so without resorting to the same tactics you already have. Meaning, bring up ever other topic you can think of without actually addressing my question.

Hey did anyone notice Kenny is still going to be at Farm Aid- that will be two shows for me this summer. Its easier to get Hot Tail at a Kenny show than it is by crashing weddings
