Stinky Feet

Post by Tiki Bar »

Speaking of flip flops...

Anyone have problems with foot odor, and more importantly, successful tips to eliminate it? I wear Birks all summer, and they get a bit stinky, but worse, make my feet stink to high heaven! :o  I wash them 2-3 times a day, but one step back in the shoe, game over. Any help?

My adivice.....Quit wearing Birks you Hippie!!!!!

I have several pairs of flip flops because of this. I cover them with gold Bond powder and let them sit for a few days. This usually helps.

Take a zinc supplement with your vitamin - helps control all body odor.
Washing works wonders too.

I dust mine with baking soda, let them sit for a bit, and then hose them off, that seems to help a lot. Cloth ones I pretreat and wash them in a pillow case.
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..

Sure if you want but you don't have to. You can get the zinc supp in a multiple but it is not a high enough dossage, you need about 50mg a day. If you get leg cramps after drinking or while sleeping you may want to try Magnesium/zinc.

One other thing to help control the odor from your Birks (or any leather shoe), stuff them with loosely waded up newspaper. Part of the reason they make your feet stink is because they have moisture in them. The newspaper will absorb the moisture and give you rosie toesies.

good luck.

Tiki, the only answer to stinky feet is Ron Santo's.

You can also hit your feet with a bit of deoderant. I have two 17 yo sons. That's alot of foot odor. One runs and has at least 10 pairs of running shoes in the small room he shares with his brother. Some of his shoes smell so bad we make him put htem outside.
But I second the newspaper in the shoes. That is one of the things the runners do to control the problem.

Are they closed-toe?

I had that problem a few summers ago... GROSS!

De-stanked it by using Dove Deoderant on the soles of my feet, but eliminated it by throwing out the sandals with the closed-toe and buying opentoes.
