On second thought I think it should be up to crash to decide, since he's the organizer.

I do too, but I also agree that we make it Crash's call. But we can still give him some choices and then he can see how our twisted minds work.

I'd go along with it being up to John and the troops...it's their mascot, after all.

PHINdy PHan wrote:Hi everyone.

I'm Sue from the Indianapolis PHC and I'm coordinating our club's efforts to help John (aka "Crash" in this forum) with his "Baghdad 1st Annual Buffett Fest 2005 Iraq".

Our club president sent out an email today to the Leader's List about this event.

A few general notes: The mailing deadline is Aug. 23rd. All packages must be sent via Priority Mail through the US Post Office. Maximum weight is 70 pounds. Height x Length x Depth cannot exceed 130 inches.

Our club has set up an email address for questions regarding the event. Please direct any correspondence regarding the logistics of getting your donations to John to "Buffettfest@phindyphc.com". I'm going to keep a log for John of what to expect. It will help him with his planning if he knows in advance what's enroute.

Thanks for all your efforts in helping to make the Baghdad 1st Annual Buffett Fest a success.

Sue
Hey Sue (a.k.a. PHINdy PHan)...glad to see you found us all here!! :D

As you can see, there is a lot of great enthusiasm around the Buffettfest and there will be many good things headed John's (CrashD7's) way for the troops. The creativity and passion from this BN crowd is nothing short of inspiring. Glad to see the Leaders' List (worldwide Parrot Head clubs) now has info, too, so even more positive things can be done! :D

Thanks for posting the shipping req's...that will help insure things go as smoothly as possible. Additionally, re. shipping timeframe...the sooner the better (to help give John time to organize), but August 23 sounds like a good date to target.

I'll continue to post items shipped at the top of this thread (p.1), so as you ship, please post contents and date shipped, again, so we can insure John is in the loop for what is headed his way.

Let's keep up all this good work...thank you all!

I'm assuming that we are shipping to the previous address you gave us, is that correct?? And if shipping via another delivery source, are the same dimensions of package required? I'm getting confused. :-?

Sorry for any confusion...yes, previous address applies. You'll have to check and see if your other shipping source works...as it's a military address and not a street address, I don't know whether shipping by anything other than the US Postal Service will work.

By the by...over 1000 mardi gras type beads collected in less than 24 hours...and a variety of other things from the Hiton crew in Tampa...my guess by the popularity of this gig is that we will end up with between 4-5 thousand by the end of the week...

Because the donations for the event are going to an APO (Army Post Office) address, the only way they can be shipped is thru the US Postal Service.

Please feel free to address any questions to the PHINdy Parrot Head club at buffettfest@phindyphc.com.

I have some exciting news to start this day . .

Earlier, I had thought how cool it would be to attach BN nametags to each bag . . starting with " HERO #1 " . .thru " HERO #100 ". . .

they didn't have to be the " real deal " quality that 7lords puts out . .rather just a " knock-off " version . .

I contacted one of my BN buds, Big Phan ( Lisa) to run the idea past her . .she said if we could get the art work , she would handle the job of color copying, putting them thru standard laminate sheets, and cutting into tags. . .a one hole punch in the top would allow them to carry it in their wallet , hang it from a chain . .etc.

7lords replied to my pm . .and said " this is very do-able " . .! ! and seemed really excited as well . .he even offered to create the file with all 100 images/names prepared and placed in a file that he could just e-mail to Lisa . .

so, looks like every gift bag will come with it's own BN nametag. . . assigned to a very " special HERO " . . .

I would really hope that some/all of them use their name . .such as, " HERO #87 " . .as their BN sign on name . . .

I know this starts MY day off on a happy note. . .! ! Wonder what other great things will happen . .? ?

Hey everyone! John again. If people don't mind the palm tree will be called a Haifa Palm. Haifa Street was once one the most dangerous streets in the world. It lead to checkpoint #1 or Assasin's Gate because of all the car bombings and sniper fire. Just a fun thing to make the most dangerous street in the world into a Parrothead Playground.

Waiting on the name tag stuff, but will work at the speed of light (ok, maybe not THAT fast) to get them to BG.
