Just curious, for all the Waylon fans out there, what's your favorite CD and why?

Honky Tonk Heroes. Because it's the very embodiement of the "outlaw" movement, right down to the songs themselves and how they were recorded. Billy Joe Shaver wasn't exactly fond of how Waylon was singing his songs which often led to fisticuffs. There was also Waylon's insistance that he be allowed to employ musicians of his choice, something that went very much against the grain of how the Nashville establishment operated back then. Most of all it's the music, the place where country and rock meet and how that album remains a timeless classic, one which all future records of it's kind are judged against. Drawing from his diverse musical background, which included a stint with Buddy Holly's Crickets, Waylon tapped into a whole type of music that had only been hinted at before and ended up launching a musical movement who's reverberations are still being felt today.

I have to say I'm partial to "I've Always Been Crazy." It has the same feel as "Honky Tonk Heroes" to me, but has more of a reflective quality to it.

Although it's not Waylon solo, the "Clean Shirt" album with Willie is awesome, suprisingly ubeat, and fun. Not a "skipper" on it

Not that I consider myself a Waylon fan, but Music Man is the one I listen to the most. I actually bought it for the Ernest Tubb song, Waltz Across Texas, and didn't even know Buffett and He Went to Paris when I got it. Late 70's and early 80's is when I listened to Waylon and Willie the most. The song, Storms Never Last is superb.

I also bought The Ramblin Man for the song, Amanda. That is my favorite song of his.

I really like the Willie and Waylon album the most. I don't have any Waylon CDs, but I do have the tribute CD, Lonesome On'ry and Mean and like it a lot.

I like the songs on Honky Tonk Heroes the most now because they're Billy Joe's and the ones I'm most familiar with.

That's also one of my favorites. Just be sure to get the newer version, the first reissue of this was very poorly remastered. I also love the Waylon and Willie discs with the very first one being my favorite.

I have the first remaster of the live CD and hardly ever listen to it. I'm just not impressed with the sound of it. Clean Shirt, though, I love. I agree with whoever said there's not a skipper on it.

As I already mentioned, the sound quality on the newer version is vastly improved over the first reissue.
