Florida author Carl Hiassen's Newbery award-winning novel, Hoot, is filming in South Florida this summer. Jimmy is playing a small part in the movie, and he needs your help. The call is going out for a Jimmy Buffett double. A stand-in for camera framing, lighting, blocking and a number of other movie set terms that we're not familiar with. This will require 4 days of your time, August 15 - 18, for which you will receive $125.00 / Day. Plus they eat like kings. They are looking for South Florida residents, no hotels, no airfare, just the opportunity to stand in for Jimmy. You must be of the same height, build and general appearance of present-day Jimmy Buffett. I'd take 4 days off to go do it. However, as PHAW can attest, I have a bit of a baby boy appearance as opposed to that of someone pushing 60.

Oh, wow.... There's a guy who's a dead ringer for Jimmy, but I don't know his name or where he lives. I've seen him at several east coast shows over the last couple of years. I wish I knew where he lived.... He IS the guy they want!!

Mike Barnett of Hanna's Reef would be perfect. He could even ad lib a few tunes
for the entertainment of the cast and crew. Unfortunately, Texas doesn't qualify
as "south Florida" and they might ask him to ditch the beard...

And there's a guy who lives somewhere near Jax Beach that would qualify too,
but I have no idea who he is. He just shows up occationally in shorts, boat shoes
and a beige ball cap and freaks me out.

Is he bald, with what hair he has left cut pretty much like Jimmy's? I wish I could find a picture of the guy I'm thinking of.

I've never see this guy without the cap, so it's hard to say...

And just how does Jimmy have his hair cut? I think nearly every time we
see him in an interview he comments on how he needs a haircut. I've seen
it short one time and big and hurly-burly-curly on his neck the next.
He just needs to avoid the big-on-the-sides bozo look and it looks fine long.
