I'm just over 100 pages into this book...and I must say, I can hardly put it down so far...and I probably wouldn't if I didn't wait until 11pm to start reading it. I love these types of books.....
Can anybody recommend other books that are alone the lines of this?

A Trip To The Beach is a good read, but not exactly on the lines of DSTC.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 8?v=glance
Wind from the Carolinas is historical fiction about South Carolina family moving to Exuma. Setting is after Civil War. Jimmy recommends it!!!! He dedicated SOASOAS album to Juan Cadiz from WFTC.
The only other books I could sort of equate with DSTC was My Love My Love which is the basis for the musical Once On This Island.

Winds from the Carolinas is on my list to get. Now I'll get My Love My Love too. Thanks

I'll post here before it's locked... If you like DSTC, read anything by Carl Hiassen... they're kind of similar... same florida/tropical setting... Dark humor but great books!

by Wino you know
Definately read Jimmy's "A Salty Piece of Land."
Anything by Ernest Hemingway ("Old Man and the Sea" and "Snows of Kilamanjaro" are my favorites.
"Following the Equator" is a great one too.
Any of the Horatio Hornblower series (C.S. Forester)
Homer's works ("Iliad" and "Odyssey")
Any of the books by Pat Conroy
("Prince of Tides", "Beach Music", "The Great Santini" are all excellent choices).

being a Floridian you'd prolly love the books by Tim Dorsey.
