Weed Wacker Blender
I have searched and searched, but does anyone know where I can find instructions to create a gas-powered blender for this weekend's Cinci concert? I am way too cheap to shell out $300 for a new one.

I hade made one last year. It wasa really quite simple. After you disassemble the weed wacker. Grind down a piece of square stock any hardware sore should have it. Place ths grinded square stock in to a socket this is acting as a spacer to keep the squre stock stable not quite sure the size though wann say 1/2 inch. Place that into the star shaped hole you createdd in the weed wacker. TO get the square stock to fit the blender base you will have to pick up a blender that has a star shaped piece that attaches to the blender base. I think that i used an Oyster the name escapse me now, but i got it at kmart. I think that is all that I did but I might have missed a few steps. The hardes part for me was finding a bace. I am yet to fin one I have it a ttached to a 10x10 with tie downs . Good Luck

Boat drinks never tasted better than since the first time I whipped and whacked one up with my gas blender. About 11 seconds wide open from ice chunks to perfectly smooth boat drink. See ya'll in Cinci ... we'll be in the marroon and gold colored chevy truck with the 6' fin flying high above across the street from Coney Island. Follow the sound of the blender! We've made the big screen at every venue I've taken it to in the past two years.

Love & Luck!

they sell something called a power inverter at radioshack for about $40 and you can just plug your existing blender (or anything else that would normally plug into a wall plug into your cigarette lighter pretty easily
Both shows at Greatwoods in June
Seattle and Vegas in October

We have one, and LOVE it. It's SOOOO easy!!! Of course, at my house, it's not a question of "do we HAVE a cordless drill?" It's just a matter of WHICH cordless drill will we use....

BassPro has them too.phansheridan wrote:they sell something called a power inverter at radioshack for about $40 and you can just plug your existing blender (or anything else that would normally plug into a wall plug into your cigarette lighter pretty easily
Please make sure you get a good match between the power your car can supply-->the power inverter-->and the appliance that draws the power.
I blew out my bil's fuse by drawing too much (to run the air pump I was using). Extension cords have a deleterious effect on this draw (because of resistance/impedance?). A 20A fuse on your cigarette lighter can only help you with the first 20A. If your appliance makes the power inverter draw more, you'll lose the fuse -- not a good sitch when you have twenty or so thirsty marg drinkers waiting for the frozen concoctions.

We've tried the "power inverter" method to no avail. As Brave Dave points out, most power inverters only supply a fairly low amperage and are not powerful enough to spin a motor that's resisted by chunks of ice.
After years of trying lame-ass rechargable blenders (I agree with Lightning Bolt's observations regarding the guy in the blender ad), we've gone the following route with GREAT results:
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product. ... %26+Cables
After road-testing a similar unit that my father let us borrow last year, he got us one for Christmas this past year. It's basically a glorified car battery that provide AC or DC power, can jump start a dead battery (good for those parrotheads that leave their lights on during the show!), has an air pump compressor (might help get you to the nearest gas station after the show if you run over a beer bottle in the parking lot), and a light.
We found that a fully-charged battery will allow you to make nearly and unlimited amount of blenders for a single day (we probably made around 15 and the battery didn't drop below 90% charge). At $90 for all of it's other uses, it beats spending $300 for a device that only has one.
Hope that helps.
