Buffett stand-in chosen
And it's Tom Watt, the Buffett Man. Tom, from Pennsylvania, just happened to be in Florida doing some shows and, with a little boost from his friends, got the part in the movie. Way to go, Tom!!!

Oh yes he do
Met Tom once when he was doing a show for us...the resemblance is pretty amazing. The pictures on his site don't do him justice. And does it matter if he isn't from Florida? Go with the best choice, not the fifth-best choice who happens to live down the street.

6'1", they are surgically-shortening his legs. "Anything for a part", he was heard to say.Desdamona wrote:I guess what I'm wondering is... how tall is Mr. Watt?

I preface this post to say that we live in a free country and everyone has the right to work at any job he or she chooses as long as it is within the confines of the laws of our country.
However in my opinion, I do not care for the knock off bands, celebrity impersonators and look alikes. I listen to Jimmy Buffett because I enjoy his music, attitude and the lifestyle he portrays.... I have no interest in going to see someone who sounds like him.... or looks like him. The same goes for Vegas impersonators or house bands who try to imulate other artists.
If people have enough talent to look or sound like another, they need to make it on their OWN talent and not copy someone elses.

I suspect the request for a South Florida person was simply the desire to avoid paying hotel and travel costs for the stand-in. I'm sure no one minds if the person is in the area anyway or has paid for his travel.

I know this isn't the case here since he's only acting as a stand-in but I wholeheartedly agree. That's not to say I won't go see a cover band, I will but I really have no desire to see any tribute bands or artists that try to imitate others. Of course there's a few exceptions to that but for the most part, I don't care for them, especially when the person (or persons) they're imitating are still out there making music.ToplessRideFL wrote:I preface this post to say that we live in a free country and everyone has the right to work at any job he or she chooses as long as it is within the confines of the laws of our country.

That's correct. I thought they said that there would be no travel or hotel costs paid - just $125 per diem.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:I suspect the request for a South Florida person was simply the desire to avoid paying hotel and travel costs for the stand-in. I guess I must admit that there is a pretty strong resemblance, but no one has a look quite like Jimmy. He is a complete package that takes in attitude as well as appearance. I am sure this fellow is fine at what he does, but doesn't quite capture the mishcheivous look of Bubba which adds so much to the man. However, I want to say congratulations to Tom, and good luck!
