One of my favorite bars has a resident cat that comes by occasionally and greets customers. They used to have a dog that was a mixed breed muttlet and part bassett hound and marked sort of like a german shepard...had huge feet and when he stood up he was not what you expected. Before he went to doggie heaven, he used to greet me (and others) when we pulled up. He had the run of the bar more or less and did not bother anyone unless they were regulars in there and even then it was not a bother.....more of "OH... THERE YOU ARE!!! I did not see you come in!!!" type thing a few seconds of sniffing and greetings and he was off to eleswhere unless you started petting him and showed him some attention.
Alas he is gone but the cat still walks through and keeps everyone inline as she chooses

Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...

Those of us with allergies would just love to work at a place like thatDesdamona wrote:Just have to share... Our 25 yr old 'keet works for a privately owned environmental
consulting firm that has a lovely office building of their own. It seems that everybody
who owns one brings their dog to work, including the owners, of course. (Son has a
cat who would probably take them all out, so Ziggy stays home.)
Anyway, as a joke there was a list posted of the
"Ten Top Excuses for Being Late to Work"
and my personal favorite was...

Is it day?

Well I am officially over it! Just got off the phone with a client who asked.... "Do you work from home? That puppy sounds so cute!"
I have a professional job.... talk to other professional people... I cannot work like this...
I wish I worked from home!
Thank you... I feel a little better now!

I work in a very public office, we have members walking in all the time. I for one am alergic to dogs. It really irritates me that people think that because they can hold there dogs in there arms and it is ok. We have a front counter where they try and put the dogs on so the can "rest". There have been many occasions were I have had some kind of reaction to the dog being there. Everyone in my office knows my situation and usually says something to the member that there are employees who are allergic to dogs. Some people even have the gaul to say that oh MY dog would bother them!

Pets and most small children shouldn't be allowed out in public without a leash. Anyone who wants to play with their dogs or their kids should stay home. Some of us still work for a living.PHBeerman wrote:Is that because they turn you on?LIPH wrote:I don't need animals or small children (pretty much the same thing) running around the office when I'm trying to work.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here
You're a lawyer Larry. Don't try and pretend that you actually work.LIPH wrote:Pets and most small children shouldn't be allowed out in public without a leash. Don't get me wrong-nobody loves anything like I love my dogs, but I really get a chuckle out of some of these people who think their non-stop barking dog or non-stop SCREAMING little brats are "cute."LIPH wrote:Pets and most small children shouldn't be allowed out in public without a leash. Makes you want to instruct them in the use of DUCT TAPE.
