For Sirrus Radio, what is a good receiver?

Somewhat on topic since we're talking Sirrus and RM (one of the main reason's I'll eventually take the plunge, but there ARE others.)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Sirrus receiver? I'm looking for something noteworthy that is also reliable.

Sirrus just came out with a new player called Sportser Replay that apparently adds a recorder to the broadcast (for 44 minutes). Has anyone purchased this? Otherwise what are some other good receivers?

(I just don't trust the Sirrus website for some reason on this decision).

I've heard good things about the Clarion Calypso. Good name, huh?

It's the one I plan to get in the next few months unless something better comes along.

I'm also looking for suggestions. I want something that moves easily from home to the boat, without having to pay another subscription fee. I bought a buddy of mine a Roady 2 for XM, and he's pretty happy with that. I almost bought something at Target today, but passed because they didn't have the home kit to go with it...

I've heard the Sportster Replay has "TiVo like" functions, pause.rewind.save.etc..., which should be really cool and i think you can play MP3's with it, but don't quote me...

I know XM has a unit that will automatically change channels if one of your "favorite" songs/artists comes on a different channel. Not sure which Sirius model has that, but I'd think it would be a plus...

We had picked this one up at Costco...easy to take along in the RV and use at the house or out by the pool...

I have the Sportster and Sportster boom box. It is great because I don't need a home kit, just the car kit and box. Great for on the boat and at the beach! (Until a battery leaks acid all over your leg, unknown to you until your skin starts falling off.

Not to mention you are on a beach with boat access only.

)

the sportster replay is the best. i know you can get it at radioshack thats where i got mine and they salesman was pretty convinced it was the best since you can rewind and save songs you like on it

I have the XACT XTR2 (the one pictured above is the XTR1 available at Best Buy) and I got it at Circuit City (June 19) on sale and with the rebate for $44.99 for the receiver/car kit. The home kit (if you want it) is $55-60 and the boombox is about $89-$100.

The home kit comes with audio in/out cables and 12V power cord and antenna. I tried to skirt the home kit, but the power cord into the receiver was a special size that didn't match up to the cords I had at home or those available at Target or Circuit City.

The good thing with almost all of these is that they come with the FM transmitter to play through any FM radio. My wife and I were taking two cars somewhere the other day and I had the Sirius turned on and she tuned to the frequency and listened to RM all the way to our destination. She only lost the signal when another car got between us. We can also set up the unit in our living room and play it on all the radios in the house.

Supposedly, XACT is coming out with the walkman/recordable unit called the REGO sometime soon, but I'm guessing it won't be under $150. We'll see.

I have heard good reviews for the Clarion and the Kenwood. I think I have decided to go with the Kenwood. I have been traveling a lot with work so I haven't needed it yet. I still have radiomargaritaville.com.

Being I am on my 3rd Sirius receiver(no problems,just looking for something different) the xact xtr2 is by far the best I have found.
It is very mobile I easily can move it to either car or in the house in a matter of minutes.If you buy extra universal kits(home and car combo) $14.00 at office depot you can snap the unit on and off in seconds.
the boombox is another option you can buy for this model and the unit snaps in the box and sirius radio can go anywhere.
The new recordable receiver is $399.00 right now but like everything it will come down in time.
