I don't eat out very often. It's nice on occasion, I guess, but I really don't care to have dinner with 300 other people.

The bartender is stealing.....
No doubt. The bartender only charged you for 3, not 6. They figure this leads to a bigger tip. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

This is just one of the many tricks bartenders use to steal from their employers.
It's not just the bartenders. There's basically a mental list of "regulars" - those of us are there at least 3 times a week. Even the managers know about it. When there's a new bartender and they serve us for the first time, they're told how to charge us and to get to know us. We're all on a first name basis with every bartender
Most (not all) places will allow the bartenders a "Bar tab" so they can buy for people. But most places will also have a rule about how many for one person. Buying every other drink would be way above and beyond.
well, they have a fairly generous happy hour. The regulars always get happy hour prices (2 for 1), for any type of drink (since normal happy hour is limited to the cheap stuff), at any time of day. Sometimes they go beyond that...such as last night, where I had 3 for 1.
Damn - why wasn't I there last night.....

R2, finishing up the other three meals wasn't the worst you could have done. How did you feel after that?

I thought you were going to regale me with some tale of the 32 ounce prime rib you scarfed down with three sides, bread and dessert!!!

When you are lucky like myself and happen to be married to the best cook in the world there is never a reason to go out.

After eating eating DKD's meals I can not stand resturuant food. I don't care where it is. :D
