Sirius Unveils New Channel Lineup
Aug. 25, 2005
Howard Stern has been trumpeting the arrival of his two Sirius channels on Sept. 29, but at a New York media preview for forthcoming products today (Aug. 25), Sirius unveiled a new programming lineup that will also launch on that day. Stern's channels, of course, were the major new announcements.
Occupying channels 100 and 101, as of Sept. 29, the two channels will feature recorded production announcing that he'll be arriving on the network on Jan. 9, 2006. At least that's what Sirius believes. Stern has suggested that there may be some original content on the channels, even though he's contractually forbidden to appear until 2006.
Among other new channels is "Super Shuffle" a mix of some of the biggest hits from across the Sirius music channels. "The Coffee House" will focus on acoustic music. "Spa 73" is a new age channel, and "Tropical" will focus on Reggaeton. On the talk front "Sirius Stars" will highlight the biggest personalities on the network, giving listeners one channel to hear Adam Curry, Robert Evans, Richard Simmons, Lance Armstrong and more.
