parking mess in Philly

Post by JimChunk »

Out of curiousity, I would like to know how many people paid in advance to park in lots m&n and had to park elsewhere?

also, how many people with prepaid parking had to pay additionally? and how many still have their tailgate parking tickets?

Thanks!

parking mess in philly

Post by gb »

It was terrible!!! Due to bad traffic I only got to the lots around 3pm and they said M/n lots had been filled for 2 hours at that point. No one knew what to do, finally they opened up a lot right next to the stadium and they accepted the pre paid ticket. We spent an hour up to that point trying to find somewhere to park... All turned out OK, still drank and still enjoyed the show probably a little more sober than if I had been there a few more hours. :pirate:

Similar thing happened to me too. Although, the guy at that I talked to said don't worry about tailgating, I will be allowed since I had prepaid for the tailgating ticket.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

We didn't pre-pay, and we were right in between the Spectrum and the Center on the Linc/CBP side. We got there around 4:15, backed right up to the sidewalk, and got right to business.

There were plenty of empty spaces around. And we were on I95 10 minutes after the fireworks ended.

Lots better than getting out of Camden..

Sorry everybody had trouble with the parking.

The way they do the parking at the Sports Complex has been a problem for years, anyway.

We were in M1 and my only complaint about the parking lots is the lack of toilets.

I'd like to meet the guy who decided that two toilets for that whole parking lot was a good idea.

No problems here, things appeared pretty smooth. Pulled into Lot T next to the stadium entrance around 4, then had no wait getting out at 11. Plenty of people having a great time on Lot T, including several officers of the law.
Tryin to act like I got something planned......

Ditto. The pre-paid tix were useless. If M & N were for pre-paid only then maybe...
I ended up in P which ended up being closer to the stadium anyway and my group did its thing. My group decided that we have to rent a bus next time because of the bathroom situation. I wasted a ton of time waiting in line...and there were 7 johns there! :-?
I decided he can go back to Camden next year.

Aaarrggh!!!!!!!!!!!

Docking our vessels went smoothly!!!!

A lot of us BNers met at IKEA at 11 a.m. and went into Lot M as a convoy!

We were there around 11:30, but we did see the traffic trying to get in.

Yaarrggh, me and Gypsie Girl, Blackjack, Mrs. Blackjack, Tallship38, Margarita Will, MA Buffett Fan23, SY, Cindy Lou, etc.docked together!!

We all had pre-paid tailgating parking passes for Lots M & N at $26@.

Parking was $20 at the gate......

What choice did the parrotheads have?

Pay or park elsewhere.....

Very expensive to dock in Philly this year!!

Hope you all had a great time!!!!!!!!!!!

See ya in Vegas!!!!!!

Aaarrgh!!!!!!! :pirate:

I have mixed feelings about the parking situation this year. I, too, bought parking pre-paid when I bought my tickets - for lots M & N. We got there at around 1 (much later than I had hoped or aimed - note to self: next year late friends walk) and they were already turning people away from M & N. We were told that our tickets would be accepted in P, which was actually closer to the stadium and had a better exit route. It all seemed to work out since P was hardly full and we had our pike of the spots (right along the fence), and I'm sure any spot we would have gotten in M/N would have been less than ideal.

COuple of thoughts:

1. Drove by M&N at 8 am and there were already a TON of people tailgating. You Philly guys are hardcore!

2. I'm surprised that they let people spread out so much in the lots. I guess it goes by the theory of first come, best served.

There are a ton of lots there. The Eagles and the Linc were getting very wound up over parking. I didn't see a single empty spot in lot "K". Way too cramped.

Did anybody experience anything like dead lots or total inability to find parking. I assume there was a higher potential for problems on Saturday with the AND1 tournament, and it just being the weekend. That's a big difference from Camden. The lots over on the other side of the river are much more spread out and there are generally less spaces. Once, in Camden I had to park at Cooper Hospital (over a mile away from the river) and walk in through the "neighborhood". I learned to get there earlier after that walk.

Just wanted you to know that, we too, had tailgate parking Lots M&N for Saturday. Just like a lot of others, we could not get into the lot when we arrived and had to pay the additional $20 :x . Today, my husband called New Era spoke to someone who was extremely apologetic, asked for the number on the bottom right of our prepaid parking ticket and said a supervisor would get back to us. We, of course, are still waiting for that return phone call - so we will see what they say.

In the end, everything turned out just fine and we had a great day. :D

Parking Disaster Avoided Here

Post by BoatDrinkSweetie »

This Rhode Islander made the trip to Philly and planned on getting there as early as possible to take advantage of maximum tailgating time. I had a pre-paid parking pass and arrived at lot M at 10:50am. We pulled in without any line and pretty much had our choice of parking spots. I guess we avoided the parking disaster by being over zealous and getting there EARLY!

I can tell you exactly why there was such a parking problem though. There was no organization to their parking system. You drove in and picked a spot. There were lines painted but people barely paid any attention to them. If an RV took up a spot and a half they didn't care. If you parked to far away from the person beside you, they didn't care. I ususally see Buffett at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA and you'd swear the parking attendants there were parking Nazis! Philly was nothing like that. I've hated the parking attendants in Mass. all these years but now I know why they do that! Philly ran out of pre-paid spaces because they did absolutely nothing to make sure they used all of the spaces they had!

Anyway, I had a great experience at Philly and I'm sorry for those of you who didn't. You have to admit though... the show was one of the best ever! I hope the show made up for all of your tailgating/parking woes.
