Chills up your Spine?

Post by Chambo316 »

Is there any lyric in one of JB's songs or any time during JB's concerts that just give you a chill up your spine?

For me, during SoSoaS i get a chill up my spine when the lyrics says "And the lady she hails from Trinidad
Island of the spices
Salt for your meat, and cinnamon sweet
And the rum is for all your good vices"

Reason being is that my Mom is from Trinidad and everytime i hear that i think about my mom.

Also during Jb's concert during fins when u look around and see 40000 parrotheads w/ there fins up , kinda gives me a chill also
"We're wanted men, we'll strike again
But first let's have a beer"

"I'm just hanging on while this old world keeps spinning"

"Sometimes the only closure you're gonna get is puttin a lid on a bucket of *****."

Both are great descriptives.... and I too LOVE the verses you chose.... I also get to the point of tears with Survive. Maybe because its such a pretty song...or because I saw Jimmy close Tampa one year ...just him and the guitar singing the song for what seemed to be the audiance.... either way.... Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Pirate is my.... pull me up by the boot straps song.... hits home everytime! No more words needed.... 8)

It's my job to be different from the rest
And that's enough reason to go for me

~~~~
I travel on the songlines that only dreamers see
Not known for predictability
~~~~

That's where it always happens
Same place every year
I come down and talk to me
When the coast is clear

~~~~
Time to sing time to dance
Living out my second chance
Cobras and sleeping bags are coiled and curled
That's the way it happens
On the Far Side of the World
~~~~

Sometimes more than others
You see who and what and where
You are

Quite a few, really.....but these come to mind right off....

"But there's this one particular harbor
Sheltered from the wind
Where the children play on the shore each day
And all are safe within"

"Some never fade away
Some crash and burn
Some make the world go round
Others watch it turn

Still, it's all a mystery,
This place we call the world
Most are fine as oysters
While some become pearls"
Paige in Utah

guess another couple lyrics that get me is when JB doing CSN "Southern Cross"
1. When you see the southern cross for the first time.
You understand just why you came this way.
i actually had a chance to see the Southern Cross and the 1st time i saw ity i was singing that song and my girlfriend didnt know the song and i was sing it to her about the southern cross and seeing it the 1st time and now she loves the song.

Right now, at this time in my life, these are my "duck bumps" lyrics.

Sometimes more than others,
You see who and what and where you are.

. . .

No need to feel important or famous.
No limos or my little Nash car.

One lucky man with my feet in the sand.
Tonight I just need my guitar.

. . .

And, of course, when Jimmy covers THE SOUTHERN CROSS....I weep.

I have my ship, and all her flags are flying.
She's all that I have left
And MUSIC is her name.
Gentilly ... 42 years is a long time to wait .... a Northeast Texas woman can hope.
My love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain.

Just something about the song Biloxi.....I keep thinking the opening line "sun shines on Biloxi" considering how tough they had it today.

One of many would be "Carolina In My Mind" when he does it as an encore here in North Cackalacky.

one lucky man with my feet in the sand, tonight i just need my guitar

I never knew what you all wanted, so i gave you everything

If theres one thing that i've learned from all this living, is that it wouldn't change a thing if i let go.

and the walls that won't come down, we can decorate or climb

and my favorite:
On top of all that i got married too early, cost me much more than a ring
:D

those are a few for now, i'm sure i'll come across
Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way

LOVELY CRUISE

Drink it up
This ones for you
It's been a lovely cruise
I'm sorry it's ended
It's sad but it's true
Honey it's been a lovely cruise

These moments were left with
May you always remember
These moments are shared by few
There's wind in our hair
And there's water in our shoes
Honey, it's been a lovely cruise

These moments we're left with
May you always remember
These moments are shared by few
And those harbor lights
Aw they're coming into view
We bid our farwell much too soon
So drink it up
This one's for you
Honey, it's been a lovely cruise
Yea baby, it's been a lovely cruise
Oh darlin' it's been a lovely cruise

BURN THAT BRIDGE

I'm not saying I'm scared of you
But your love is something new
When I hold you we're swaying in the wind
Of all the bridges I've ever crossed
High and lonesome and wild and lost
I feel this time I'll take it to the end
We don't care what the people may say
If there's a price it's the price we'll pay

Chorus
And we'll burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn it down
Burn it down

We've both done our share of runnin' around
Now we know enough to know the kind of love
we've found
It's the real thing and we've got to see it through
eI'm a singer and a sailor on a midnight sea
Oh captain come and take me on your fantasy
If we're crazy that ain't nothin' new
'Cause we don't care what the people may say
If there's a price it's the price we'll pay and

Who knows how it started
Who knows it's ends
The point of no return is waiting
just around the bend

"I've been too long on the mainland..........
........Great whales travel the rhumb line,
dodging those deadly harpoons.
Spawning their young, as their ancestors done
in the depths of their heady lagoons.
There are times I find myself with them,
and times I feel as they do.
We're on a similar course,
it's just a different source,
but I'm in danger of extinction too."

One of his greatest verses from one of his greatest and least appreciated songs. If you're a sailor, I don't have to explain this one. If you're NOT a sailor, I can't explain it.

"I wanted more than one 'till I found the one I wanted,
her memory's a ghost now, though I'm still pretty haunted-
I still go to pieces, though I don't go as often..........."

Wherever you are, Cherrie-thanks! It was worth it all, and I'd do it again in a micro-second. G.B.Y.!!!

"Sweet Senorita, won't you please come with me-
back to the island, honey, back to the sea.
Back to the only place I want to be".

Any volunteers? :lol: :lol: :lol:

"Just like a fool, when those sweet goodies cool,
I eat 'till I eat way too much.
'Cause I'm livin' on things that excite me,
be they pastry or lobster or love.
I'm just tryin' to get by, bein' QUIET AND SHY"
in a world full of pushin' and shove."

Did Jimmy KNOW me when he wrote that song? :-?

"Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.
Given the chance, I'd probably do it again."

At least I can say I've only broken two of the Ten Commandments.

"Now it's Christmas and my birthday."
I guess I have LOTS of reasons to celebrate on Dec. 25th. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Those lines from those songs tend to stir up my emotions, as do the ENTIRE songs of
Distantly In Love
Somewhere Over China
A Pirate Looks At 40
He Went To Paris
Sending the Old Man Home
All the Ways I Want You
Savannah, Fare You Well
Madamoiselle, Volez Vous Dansante
Beach House On the Moon
No Plane On Sunday

any line from this one actually...

We've gotta roll with the punches
Learn to play all of our hunches
Makin' the best of whatever comes your way
Forget that blind ambition
And learn to trust your intuition
Plowin'straight ahead come what may.
And there's a cowboy in the jungle.

Mother mother ocean
I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters
Since I was three feet tall
You seen it all
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

captain and the kid also since dad died.. :cry:

She's constantly amazed by the blades of
the fan on the ceiling
And the funny little faces she makes
can't help but be appealing
She loves to ride through the town with the top down
Feel the warm breeze on her gentle skin
She is my next of kin

Chorus
I see a little more of me everyday
I catch a little more moustache turning grey
Your mother is the only other woman for me
Little Miss Magic what you gonna be?

Sometimes I catch her dreaming and wonder
where that little mind meanders
Is she down along the shore or
strolling cross the broad Savannah's
I know in time she'll learn to make up her own mind
In time she's gonna learn to fly
Oh that I won't deny
