Yes, Outlook will check them however there are a few reasons I don't use Outlook for that.

Outlook has a issues with PST file size over 1 Gb; it crashes at 2 Gb. My work e-mails already take up just below 1 Gb with an Archive at 500 Mb. I'd hate to see what happened if I incorporated all my personal e-mails in there.

I also try to keep Outlook strictly for business use. That way, when I move on from this job I don't have to worry about a bunch of personal stuff when someone else opens my Outlook.
