Shots Fired at Evacuation Choppers
Something is wrong.....
I added anoher option but it is not showing up!
It was called:
OTHER Please describe the action you would take.
or words to that effect.
The madness begins.....perhaps a few Cobras or Apaches and a few team, could be called in to send these bastards some much needed "care packages"... make examples of them..... no doubt there are those that have a problem with that....
I dunno what the answer is try to talk them out ??? How can you talk them out when they are shooting at the very people trying to help them ? Starve them out ??? wait them out???
The longer the wait goes on the better organized and equipped and brazen and bolder, they will get. They should have been shot AND hanged immediately....
Open for suggestions and input on what to do about this.....We are not talking about people taking items needed for survival here...We are talking real violent crimminals. Creating mayhem and destruction.
It very well could escalate...no doubt some will blame the President for that too.
The riff-raff is coming out and making a bad situation even worse. Some have stolen firearms and God only knows how much ammunition was available ...and instead of using it for proper and peaceful purposes such as eliminating venoumous snakes and what not....the bozos are shooting at people that are trying to help others.....

Report: Shots Fired at Evacuation Choppers
(CNSNews.com) - The worst of human nature remains on display in New Orleans, where the urgent evacuation of the Superdome was suspended Thursday morning, reportedly after shots were fired at (or in the vicinity of) a military helicopter helping with the evacuation effort. Later reports said arson fires were burning outside the Superdome. A Fox News crew near the Superdome said it also was assessing its situation in light of safety concerns, amid growing reports of gunfire and violence. Looters reportedly have made off with guns from various stores in the city and are not hesitating to brandish them or fire them. A number of carjackings were reported overnight.
New Orleans Mayor Finally Vows to Stop Looting
(CNSNews.com) - Mayor Ray Nagin on Wednesday night ordered 1,500 police to stop the looting that has gone on for two days and become increasingly violent, press reports said. "They are starting to get closer to heavily populated areas -- hotels, hospitals, and we're going to stop it right now," Nagin said in a statement to The Associated Press. The images of looting in New Orleans have disappointed many Americans and come to symbolize the anarchy in a devastated city that seems to be unprepared for the magnitude of the disaster that hit it. The looting of consumer goods that have no bearing on survival has gone on in full view of outnumbered police and TV cameras.

Hmmm if memory serves correctly, President Clinton had eliminated Napalm from the US weapons inventory.... I might be wrong on that....bravedave wrote:See, you started your post with the same TACAIR response that I was gonna propose, but you left it out of the poll.

Let em starve til the town is rebuilt. If you catch them in the act of anything shoot them and hang their bodies on the nearest tree. I'm sure I want our military risking their lives to drag them out of there when they should have evacuated like everybody else.

As good as this sounds....it may not look to good for the south. Not to be racist, but watching the news last night, I saw 30 solid minutes of footage of looters....In all seriousness, ONE out of those 30 minutes of clips, at least a 100 different people, was white. Maybe it's just a racist news channel?OceanCityGirl wrote:Let em starve til the town is rebuilt. If you catch them in the act of anything shoot them and hang their bodies on the nearest tree. PG is right - buy not because it's the south.
I'm going to play devil's advocate for just one second. Some of the people down there haven't had food since Katrina hit - how many of us could go hungry, thursty for DAYS and not do something, even if it's illegal, your kids are hungry and crying. There's a store and if you break in, although illegal, your kids and you can maybe live one day or so. You don't know if or when help will arrive - the batteries on your radio died. Very few of us know that kind of hunger so I think it would be best if we thought about that. Babies are now dieing in their mother's arms for lack of food and water (just reported on CNN)
Let's remember that at that Wal Mart the police were there looting too!!
I can see someone stealing food and water and even shoes right now - the microwaves and TV's and guns is WRONG. But a few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch. To argue kill everyone down there or let them starve is way beyond my comprehension and so horriable I can't believe anyone even considered it. What kind of people are you?? Certainly not understanding and compassionate right now.....

Anyone caught stealing items not absolutely necessary for survival should be shot. Anyone caught in posession of such items should be shot. Anyone hampering any rescue or aid mission should be shot. The problems caused by nature are more than enough to deal with right now, anyone who chooses to add to these problems forfeits their right to another breath.

The store is 1/2 under water and you steal diapers and cans of tunafish and water for survival of you and your children... I can look the other way.
But please tell me what you are doing with a TV? You have no electric, no clean water, no house... but you have a TV? The pawn shop is flooded!
And what about the footage of the people actually trying on shoes... before stealing them!
Criminals were on the street before the hurricane. Since the flooding hit the poorest of areas.... and the ones prone to criminal activity its logical that there would be more looting. I believe the troops need to step in and just take complete control.
