I heard through the coconut telegraph...

Post by f2cdlzrd »

last night at my PHC meeting that Jimmy Buffett had just been added to the list of performers at the 'Concert for Hurricane Relief' to be seen on NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC tonight at 8:00 PM. It doesn't mention his name here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9146525/ . Can anyone confirm or deny this rumor?

Heard this from one of the Buckeye PHC leadership as well. Might be a case of the MSNBC list not having been updated since 5p EDT last night, and the agreements/paperwork wasn't done until after the deadline for reporting?

Thanks for that link. I looked yesterday for the story. I do see that Aaron Neville is now included in the list of performers also.

Knowing Matt Lauer is helping organize it, I have to believe Jimmy would certainly be asked to perform and I'm sure he would do it if asked. I guess he will be very busy this weekend.

I think I read somewhere that the concert is being broadcast live from one of NBC's studios here in NYC, which means it's probably in the building where I work. Maybe I should hang around outside with a sharpie, just in case. No, I'm not a stalker.

I've been in several studios in the NBC building and if I had to guess, I would think they might broadcast it from the SNL set.... It is the largest set, it's set up for a live uplink, and available that night... Last Call with Carson Daly is filmed on that set but earlier in the day...

I had heard through the grapevine that he was to be a part of this as well, but Billboard magazine has no mention of it in their article posted just 30 minutes ago.....
Music-Related Hurricane Relief Efforts Grow

By Barry A. Jeckell, N.Y.

Faith Hill and Aaron Neville have been added to tonight's (Sept. 2) "A Concert for Hurricane Relief," staged in New York by NBC Universal. Meanwhile, music channels BET and Great American Country have announced plans for benefit events on Sept. 9 and Sept. 27, respectively.

As previously reported, NBC's one-hour telethon will also feature Hill's husband, Tim McGraw, along with Harry Connick Jr. and Wynton Marsalis. Additionally, the Matt Lauer-hosted special will feature appearances by celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio, Mike Myers, Hilary Swank, Lindsay Lohan, Claire Danes, John Goodman, Eric LaSalle and Eli Manning.

My guess is that if Jimmy performs it will probably be from a remote hookup in Chicago (not live from New York). I'll definitely be watching though....both to see if Bubba's in the telecast and to check out Lindsay Lohan! :o
