What we can do to help

Do you remember not long ago when board members thought they could organize a buffett concert? I believe it's possible that ir could have been done, but of course planning would have placed some members at financial risk.
Now we have a true disaster. No matter what you think of the situation there are people who need help now, but even more, in a couple of months folks will be coming back and need enormous help to rebuild. Imagine if Parrotheads across the country helped here. What would members think of coordinating a web site to unite parrotheads across the country to help. If we contacted parrothead clubs across the country as well as folks who only visit web-sites. Every group could choose the way they would raise funds or just make individual contributions. The donations could be kept tally of. This way a group would feel they weren't part of their club raising $1000. They could be part of a total nationwide parrothead effort that raises a million dollars.
I'm not good at web site design but I would be willing to do anything else, including contacting area clubs and websites. By the time we had something like this coordinated it would be able to go to the rebuilding efforts. We could even choose a specific charity such as the Red Cross, or choose a specific area and forward the money to the local Parrothead club nearest this town.
Any thoughts??

OCG - I was wondering the same thing but last night PHIP posted a thread that that is EXACTLY what they've started. It will be a fund to help

Separarate from my PHC project, I'm organizing a Red Cross "Donate Your Lunch Money" drive at my office next week. If everyone brings lunch from home one day, and donates the $$ they would normally spend on eating out, it's an easy way to help.
