Anyone hear BILOXI on NBC concert?

Post by lati2d »

I watched the NBC concert for relief for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Overall, it wasn't very good but they did play parts of "Biloxi" while showing the devastation in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Our local news cut in for a good 10 minutes, right over that segment... :-?
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

HELP!!! Jimmy.

Post by judgeroybeans »

Yes I heard it. Does anyone know if/what Jimmy's planning on doing to help. If anyone has reason to help, it's Jimbuff. The man was born in Mobile, AL. Tried to go to school in Hattiesburg, MS, and tried to make a living in New Orleans, LA. I know that he's got his own problems, but for the P'heads down here that've followed him for his whole life, including his times at McGill-Toolen. I just want to hear what he's got up his sleeve, because I know it's gonna be big. It's got to be. He's opened up this area to all of the world. See you at the Bean.

I heard Biloxi during the show...

It's good to hear from someone at The Bean.

Reminds me to go check out the web site and see how things are doing there since the fire. I had never heard of it until the fire.

Is there a web site for Judge Roy Bean's in Daphne?

Conched,

As of now, obviously, still working on getting it re-done. There are things on other peoples' minds. Not trying to be rude, but there are "bigger fish to fry, and more tartar sauce to mix." Eventually it'll be rebuilt, but I was thinking if there's one entertainer in the world that has more ties to the regions most affected by katrina, I don't know who that'd be......

Not trying to be rude, but anyone who is a student of the blues and jazz (which I am not) could probably run off a list of about 100 people off the top of their head.....

I had been thinking of that song all week. I was honestly afraid to pop the CD in as I was emotional enough already. The first two notes of it on the relief concert brought a tear. Then it stopped for a minute and I thought they weren't going to play any more, but it started over and they played a decent sample. I hoped they raised a ton of money. Money doesn't seem like enough, but it's about all we can do from long distance. I'm sure Jimmy is doing his part, whether we see it or not.

I know he helped about 40,000+ escape to Margaritaville last night in Chicago and who knows just how many took a break from the news to listen to the concert on RM or Sirius and heard City of New Orleans etc.

God bless Jimmy and Biloxi and the wonderful folks of the Gulf Coast area with special thoughts for New Orleans.

Jimmy did say he would be down at the Crescent City on Wednesday.
