Very good post. I've done a few small things to help the flood victims. But it's given me a desire to get my family finances more in order. If one of my family was in that position I wouldn't have the money they would really need to help them. If my family faced a similar disaster there choices due to money. I would have been able to leave and gotten to safety but that's about it. Imagine somebody you care about being in serious trouble and not having 5000. to send them so they would be ok. With three late teen/young adult children, well kids can make mistakes, or get into trouble travelling, etc. Also, I have some friends who have a successful busines and are able to take chunks of time off to do missionary/construction work. They helped put in a well in Guatemala, as well as building an orphanage. They are going to help out in the rebuilding process thru sister churches as well. I want to be in the position that if God puts something on my heart I don't say, can't don't have the money. Can't afford to miss a week of work. So I"m going to put my house in order. Become more dedicated to a business I have so that could be more productive, etc...
