Why #22??

Post by davesnik »

Can anyone tell me why Jimmy had a #22 on his Cubs Jersey? Was just curious if it held any significance. Thanks!

Bill Buckner fan perhaps? I believe Billy Buck wore #22 back in the days when Jimmy and Goodman would go to the games.

a) you oughta get that cold checked, it could be something worse;
b) Larry's hearing isn't what it once was...;
c) don't mention you were checking yourself, others (in a herd) will be along to volunteer to do that if you do :D

I think it was Jimmy's number in high school and college. I have a Margaritaville baseball Jersey with that number on it and remember reading something about why the used #22 at that time.

Your name isn't Dave Snik? :oops: :D

And mine was pure speculation... it may easily have other significance that someone may actually know.

It was his high school baseball number. I don't believe he played in college.

For some reason I thought Buckner wore #26.

I remember every number I ever wore. When I played football in high school sophomore year I was #30, junior & senior years #20. Except for one year when I wore #7, I've been #13 on every softball team I ever played on going back to the dark ages when I was 19 years old.
