Buffett to perform at Katrina Benefit in New York

From Billboard: "Top Acts Set For New York Katrina Benefit"

New York's Madison Square Garden will be the site of a Sept. 20 benefit for victims of Hurricane Katrina, dubbed "From the Big Apple to the Big Easy."Among the artists set to appear are Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Lenny Kravitz, Bette Midler, John Fogerty, Loggins & Mussina and Earth, Wind & Fire.

In addition to underwriting the show, Madison Square Garden will donate $1 million to Katrina-related fundraising efforts. All proceeds from the event will benefit like-minded causes. Tickets go on sale September 13. More details as they become available.

In all seriousness, that sound like a great line-up which also includes some New Orleans best, Fats Domino, Alan Toussaint and The Neville Brothers among others.

But wouldn't it be such a nice gesture for them to do that.

lmao.....they should waive all convienance fees, because I have a feeling the tickets will be fairly pricey already...

This may sound like a crazy question but by any chance will the concert be televised anywhere?? Keep hearing rumors down here in TX of a concert/benefit to be televised on 3 networks. Is this it??

And as far as Ticketmaster goes, we ALL know what they're about....

They didn't waive any of the fees for the Concert for NYC 4 years ago. I don't remember if they donated what they collected to charity but they still collected the fees.
