Evacuees Turned Criminals

Post by Mr Play »

I held my tongue when an evacuee sexually assaulted a 13-yr old girl in Dallas last week.
Yesterday, another evacuee tried to abduct a 14-yr old girl on her way home from school in Ft Worth.

Apparently it isn't known how many sex offenders and other criminals are out there. I'm afraid there will be more of these reports to come...

Just another sad piece in that whole tragedy... as if there isn't enough stress on so many already. :-?

That's why letting someone stay in your home is nice and all...but next thing you know they're cooking meth in your toolshed, there's change missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up....i've seen it a million times.

On a more serious note...it's pretty shitty....

You really just have to wonder what mental imbalance people like this have where this either seems okay or a good idea.

I heard that a lot of sex offenders from the effected areas of Mississippi who were registered in the State of Mississippi have been scattered because of the hurricane and some are staying in other people's homes.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

This makes me absolutely sick. I'm sorry if I seem callous by this statement, but I'll donate money, food, clothing whatever you want. But I'm not letting a complete stranger live in my house. Maybe that's not christian enough, but it helps me sleep at night.

Heard on the news yesterday.....A debit card purchase from Louis Vetton store in Atlanta just showed up. No food, no shelter, no job .... But I got me a $900 purse!

We knew it was coming... but IMO that was criminal. WHY didnt they put restrictions on it...in addition to no tobacco/alochol???

Also heard people are selling the $2000 debit card for 1/2 the value for immediate cash! I know one (or 10) bad apple dont spoil the whole bunch....! Just leaves a bad taste.....

The problems with people posing as evacuees or abusing the financial system are bad enough. I'm more disturbed by the violent criminals and sex offenders attacking children in the cities that have taken them in.

Yeah, that is a great big "f*ck you", isn't it? Anyone caught doing such things should be shipped back to the flood waters...with a cinder block chained to their neck.

Or the flip side:

Student displaced by Hurricane Katrina stabbed in Boston

BOSTON --Two Loyola University students attending classes at Boston College because of Hurricane Katrina were stabbed on a Boston street early Wednesday morning.

Joseph Vairo, 19, was in serious condition at Beth Israel Hospital after being stabbed twice, Boston College spokesman Jack Dunn said. An unidentified 20-year-old was treated and released. Vairo is originally from Holden.

The students -- among 150 from Loyola and Tulane University who are temporarily attending Boston College -- got into an argument with five men at 1:30 a.m. outside a Store 24 in Cleveland Circle, police said.

They walked away, but were attacked moments later, police and Dunn said. Police said there have been no arrests.

Police said witnesses were being interviewed.

Fight Between La., Houston Students Leads To School Riot
Parents, Students Say Brawl About Respect, Who Controls School

POSTED: 1:22 pm PDT September 13, 2005
UPDATED: 2:25 pm PDT September 13, 2005

HOUSTON -- A fight Tuesday morning led to a riot between Houston students and evacuated students from Louisiana attending a southeast Houston high school, television station KPRC reported.

Officers with the Houston Police Department and the Houston Independent School District said 20 to 25 students were involved in the 8 a.m. fight at Jesse Jones High School.

HISD confirmed the brawl was between Houston students and students evacuated from Louisiana because of Hurricane Katrina who are temporarily attending the school.

"One of the Jones' kids tossed a soft drink can into the group of News Orleans' kids," HISD spokesman Terry Abbot said.

The confrontation about respect and which group of students controlled the school had been brewing for days, according to students and parents.

"We are trying to help them and they are coming over here beating up our children. I don't think it's fair," one parent told KPRC.

When the fight cleared, three students had been injured and transported to a hospital. Five other students were arrested and charged with disruption of school activities, a Class C misdemeanor.

Police were also forced to clear parents from the area.

"They got gangs in Houston. They got gangs in New Orleans. They all coincide right here. I don't want nobody just blaming New Orleans people," another parent told the station.

The Jones High School principal warned all students that violence would not be tolerated on campus.

School officials said the school day had pretty much ended by noon and were asking parents to pick up their children.

KPRC spoke with several parents of students from Louisiana who said they were not sure if they would allow their children to return to class on Wednesday because of safety concerns.

"We have three full-time police officers assigned here from the HISD Police Department. We've also asked for assistance from the Houston Police Department," Abbott said.

HISD officials said more than 3,000 students from Louisiana are attending schools in the district, and that up until this fight, the district had not experienced any trouble with the displaced students.
