$14.95 http://www.ahernstore.com/rl-100.html

Just hook it up to your tape recorder and you're ready to go...just remember it is illegal to record someone without their knowledge....but who cares anyway....recording a phone conversation is pretty much on the same level as downloading MP3's  :P

No, it's not. You can get yourself in deep and expensive legal trouble if you don't comply with state and federal laws governing recording conversations.

Thanks. I plan on following all laws concerning this. If I have to end up doing it, it will be for a court case my sister is involved in.

Figuring out the technical part is easy. Figuring out the legal part is probably way harder.... :-?

Good luck, and I hope you get what you need to help your sister.

Thanks. Hopefully it won't come to this, but if it does, everything will be by the book for the lawyers.

I used to work at a major financial institution in International Banking. Because we gave currency exchange rates, often for rather large amounts, all calls are recorded. In some states, if you have a recorder that gives an audible beep you don't have to inform them that the conversation is being recorded. If not, you must tell them.

ok but what if, on your answering maching you say leave your name at the beep, etc but then you pick up & some juicy info gets recorded from your conversation (it's happenesd to me  ) is that illegal to have / use

Be careful, depending on where you call, you WILL have to tell the other person you are recording the conversation. If they do not consent, you are LEGALLY required to turn off the recorder. If you do not, either get conset or tell the other person you are recording, you CAN be arrested. That is why when you call a major company's customer support line, they always say your conversation is either or maybe recorded.
