Things that make you go "hmmmmm" . . .

I just returned from the bank and noticed something once again: have you ever wondered why the keypad, at a drive-through ATM, is also in braille?

Absolutely no offense meant by this post; this atm is in a location where only cars can get to - not walking accessible. I have seen them where you can drive or walk to them.
Sorry!!!

Just guessing here... but all ATM keypads are made to a certain set of standards.... so all of them have it.

Back in my banking days we wouldn't take any pedestrians at the drive-up window, too many liability issues.

He goes inside during banking hours, but has to walk up to the ATM, whever that may be located.

No offense taken!

I have often wondered the same thing about McDonalds- on the drive through window is a sticker that says Braille menus available Upon Request. Now, if you have gotten that far, your order has been placed. Also, I hope the blind person has someone driving the car that can read them the menu!
Quick fuuny story about my blind friend and his independence.... We were walking home from a bar one early morning when he heard a group of girls walking behind us. He didn't want them to see that he was being guided and wanted to try and pick them up, so he walked ahead of us. They ended up passing us and getting right behind him...just as he ran smack dab into the center of a utility pole! He must have been walking with his mouth open because we had to get a sliver out of his tongue. Needless to say, they just thought he was some drunk loser who couldn't walk a straight line!

I read the answer to the one about braille on key pads a few years ago... seems that the explanation was because one company makes all of them and the bank/company places them where they want them or something like that.
