Its time for my fiancee to start preparing for where she wants to do her externship. She has always wanted to work with Dr. Fitzgerald at Alemeda East.
Out of her options, I'm trying to push Denver closer to the top. I'm trying to find some other things about the area to sell her on. You know other than the obvious reasons (BNers and brewery tours).
There is no way we could afford to go out there during ski season, so what else is there to do in or around Denver?

oh honey - where to start what are her interests and I'll tailor my answer to those
There's tons to do in Denver. What time of year would you be here? Just 'cause it's ski season in the mountains, doesn't make it unaffordable to be in Denver. Ski season runs approximately Halloween to mid-April.

Well here's the deal: there is another vet student who my fiancee wants to go where ever with. The two of them will probably be working about 23 hours a day, but the husband of the other person and myself will need something to keep up busy.
Since the externship is only 2 weeks, it would probably be a situation for the other husband and myself to be "between jobs". So basically our interests are budget related.
The externship can be anytime during the year, but most likely in the Summer at some point.
Red Rocks is an absolute MUST! It's one of my favorite places on the planet, as well as all that goes with the tiny town of Morrison which sits right next to Red Rocks. There's lots of bars and yummy food! Tony Rigatoni's in Morrison is probably the best Calzone you'll find in Colorado.
Spend one evening in the downtown Denver area to check out some of the bars and shops if you're so inclined.
If you have time, check out the "real" mountains and head up to one of the resort areas (Keystone, Breckenridge, etc). Even in the summer, it's beautiful up there, so worth the drive, and you can make it a day trip.
Hmmmm... Or some of my favorite places to eat... The Rib Crib in Evergreen or Dicks Hickory Dock in Kittridge, then head over to The Little Bear which is an awesome dive-bar with live music.
Go to Idaho Springs and eat at Beau Jos (mountain-style pizza)...
One of the places I used to visit in Denver to kill time was the Tattered Cover bookstore. It had 3 or 4 floors, big easy chairs and lots of books.
Lots of history in and around Denver, places like the Mint have tours that won't cost too much. Boulder and Golden are both fun places to visit as well.
Captain Jack's Bar & Grill, Home to the Lost Manatee.

The Tattered Cover is AWESOME!! The one in Cherry Creek is the best, although the Lodo one is handy since I work downtown. There's a new one in Highlands Ranch, but I haven't been out there.
Golden ROCKS! Lots of little shops, bars, and restaurants. The priest at my parent's church painted the big banner that you drive under when you are on main street!
