Police: Science Lesson Leads To Homemade Moonshine
Teen Arrested, Accused Of Building Moonshine Distillery
POSTED: 10:52 am EDT October 7, 2005
FULTON, Md. -- Authorities said a teenager used what he learned from science class and the Internet to build an illegal moonshine distillery near his home.
Investigators said a woman walking her dogs discovered a corn whiskey still in a wooded area near Fulton in southern Howard County. Officers arrested the boy early Tuesday during a stakeout.
Government agents said the still was built from a bucket, a trash can and some copper pipe.
Authorities withheld the boy's name due to his age. The state comptroller's office said this represents the first moonshine distillery found in the state in five years.
