Home Movies / Home Videos

...and NOT of adult nature, thankyouverymuch!

Spent time watching home movies this weekend... my dad sent a video tape of converted 8mm "family classics" from the early 70's. I used to love when he would set up the old projector and play them on the big movie screen, and they were still a hoot on video. (He has to have 100's of cans of film from our childhoods.)

And we also watched some home videos of our kids, which they always love to see too!

Maybe because I was brought up on them, or maybe because I long for the carefree days of my childhood, or maybe I s*** as a videographer, but for whatever reason, I enjoy the old silent ones much more! It's funny, we're talking or singing in many of them, so I guess part of the fun is wondering what everyone is saying! And there's also lots of hamming it up, and exaggerated gestures - I don't know - they just crack me up.

Included in this collection was Xmas from when I was 7, and my gift was a gorgeous plastic guitar that I loved! So I wonder, did I want to be a rockstar, so they got me a guitar? Or did they get me a guitar, so I wanted to be a rockstar?

I wish we had videos from when we were little. My mom's one friend might have a COUPLE--but it would be great to have all that you have! I know my nieces and nephew (who are only from 8-18) LOVE to watch their "old" christmas videos. I do have one pic of me at about the same age (7 or so) w/ my guitar and "fall" (a long brown wig). It's quite attractive, but my mom says it was her best Christmas ever.

When my daughter was five or six she would always ask to watch the "Baby Caitlin" movie.....it was her from birth to about one year old....it makes me cry.

So would we!! Because of that, when converting to video, my dad actually did the backwards thing to some of the parts - still hilarious!!

And good call on the old projector sound too - awesome!
