I have been to the South Pole. In my Navy days I was attached to Operation Deep Freeze. I spent New Year's Eve/Day/Week 1986 into 1987 at the South Pole. Incredible experience. I used to have a t-shirt that read. "Ski South Pole 1/2 " Powder, 10,000' of base."

A few years ago I found a job posting from Raytheon at a scientific outpost in Antarctica that sounded interesting and I was qualified for, I considered applying for it for about 20 seconds until I remembered it was in Antarctica.

I have read numerous things about "Operation Deep Freeze" and met a couple people over the years that were there...... Never had the option to go myself.
