R2 con you in to that one??
I think I'm solo on the blood donation this time. I'm due to donate again so I might as well do it in Key West. If I donate on Thursday and get it over with, I could still end up with a tattoo before the weekend is over :)

Are you sure donating blood pre-drinking is a good idea? Not to be a party pooper...but that's not such a good ideer.

Last time I donated was a church sponsored blood drive about 10 years ago. They got my blood, I stood up, and passed out. Afterwards they told me I probably shouldn't have donated blood at 5PM when I hadn't eaten all day.

Haven't tried again since.

Are you kidding? That's a great idea - drinks aren't exactly cheap down there.

I admire those that do .... I am sure there is something good I do in the community instead.....

I tried donating so many times in the past but my iron count was too low for them to accept it. Perhaps I should try again :D

This was back about 20 years ago when I couldn't afford groceries :D I can't wait to see what happens with the "eat some meat" comment - this should be good

actually have been turned down the last two times I've tried to donate due to lack of iron...but I usually donate 3-4 times a year.

that's my problem too.....no matter what I do, I can't get my iron count up. :-?

the one and only time I donated successfully was after 9/11

I donate every time I'm eligible. I think it's cool that my blood is used for the newborns in our area, b/c of the combination of childhood diseases I've had/not had. :D

Not me!! Thank god for the epidural and tattoos!!

No epidurals for me..They wouldn't do it...

and the tattoo's...well..there may have been alcohol involved...maybe..
Damn! You missed out homegirl!! Epidurals have come a long way since you had your babies though and it is my belief they are the best thing to happen to childbirth, EVER!!

I was stone-cold sober for each of my tattoos.
I probably would have died from shock if it wasn't for epidurals. I was in labor w/ both kids for 2 1/2 days... It really sucked and I could not have done it without epidurals and drugs!

Needles/donating blood are a piece of cake!

Other...No giving blood here. Pilots are advised not to give blood because it can cause Anemic Hypoxia since it can take 3-4 weeks or so to return to normal after donating. The loss of a small amount of blood that you give when you donate isn't enough to effect you at ground level but when flying at altitude your blood will not be able to deliver sufficient amounts of oxygen to the cells in your body. It's almost like being drunk. A few years ago I did some altitude chamber training, and at 18,000 to 25,000 feet you wouldn't believe the effects, you can't even do simple addition 2+2 or if you are shown a picture or a playing card for a few seconds and asked what it was after it is taken away there is no chance of remembering what it was.
It's kind of funny unless you are trying to fly a plane

Not crazy 'bout needles, but I they take my blood several times a year for various tests, and I've never fainted. ;) But after giving birth to my son via C-Section and getting blood clots and on blood thinners for a while, it's best I don't.

Somebody....talked me into giving blood, for the first time..just this summer..

I've had numerous blood tests but avoided giving blood because I sooo hate needles...

but..I did it..and will probably do it again.

I started giving blood on the day before my little brother got his driver's license.

It's been awhile since have been able to donate.
Wait 12 months after returning from a trip to an area where malaria is found.
The guidelines have relaxed, malaria used to be a lifetime deferment.
Wait 3 years after completing treatment for malaria.
I'm able to give again, just need to find the time.
