That's how we do it here.

Lets see - my "town" has 4 streets, 1 of which is paved. The 2000 census lists the population at 175, but I think they were counting pets, 'cause there's no way there's that many people here. Does that count as small?

If the "town" was that small, maybe you didn't loose your virginity!

Err. Um. Yeah. And you have Culbertson, NE beat (your town is smaller).

I'm pretty sure I lost it.

I certainly didn't recycle it!!

Orlando provides plastic recycling bins and picks them up curbside once a week.
We have one recycling bin for containers (aluminum cans, and plastic beverage containers) and one for paper products (newspapers and magazines)
So we put the two bins out each monday morning.

Aren't those palmetto bugs...it's still a roach..but not a cockroach, they're icky but not as bad as a cockroach.....we have them here, killed one this mornin at 5:45 am...
Camden County in Southeast Georgia has an amazing recycle program..and it's sooo easy to recycle here...and we do. They pick it up at the end of the drive, weekly. Certainly nothing like this for rural areas in Oklahoma..
It's GREAT, except for when Col. Bud gets the empty plastic bottles out, then we have to pick them up in the yard...and recycle them..again.

Yes palmetto bugs.... and sure we see them on a pretty regular basis... they aren't from "dirt"... they are usually looking for water or trying to run from the water. But the "germies" as I call the german roaches come visit if the garbage isnt hog tied!!
I admit... I should make more of an effort. We recycled when keet was at home... she was in charge of it....

I am a fanatic about recycling-won't throw something in the trash if there is a way it can be recycled.
We used to have the open bin but now we have a large closed container, much like the regular garbage can. No sorting, but we can recycle glass, plastic, cans, and paper, including junk mail
Also take athletic shoes to a local store that recycles them, though I now see that Sports Authority will recycle athletic shoes as well.

Cans, bottles (glass and plastic), newspapers. If it's something they'll take, I'll put it in the big plastic bin every Tuesday morning.

we recycle anything that should be and has some sort of p/u for it.
i think the key to not having the bugs that go along with the glass/plastic/alumn. is that you have to wash everything well before you put it in your recyle bin. then, no bugs.
both my parents and my in-laws do the lamest job of recycling, especially my mom. they (she) are recyclers when it's convenient to them (her). i have found things in their trash that should be recycled but they were too lazy to clean it. that really p*** me off.

of course all four of them range in age from 70-80 so i guess they figure they wouldn't be around to see too many more landfills.
ugh!!!!!!!!!!!! ( and i'm not even a granola head or treehugger like my sister in seattle. this is a good one... one day, years back when she came home from college at university of vermont (groovey uvy as some may know it), she threw out the electric can opener because she thought it was frivolous and wasteful.)

there's your laugh for the day!!

We get two wheelie bins at home - black lid - for general waste and the yellow lid for paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminium type things.
I recycle most of the above, tho it is a pain to have two lots of garbage bags in a small kitchen at the one time.

My step grandmother is a Roach - so guess I am related to one by a marriage! And the people from my state - our mascot is a cockroach

Religiously. And we have composted organics bin pick up here, too. Nova Scotia is very environmentally aware.

The recycling program here in Chicago is pathetic...
The city ends up sorting all the garbage anyway. So I don't, but my roommates insist in cluttering up our laundry room with blue bags full of crap.
