as Captain P mentioned, it's state law here. But recycling is one of the good habits I learned from my parents. I always had to help on trash day, and part of that was sorting out all the recycling. (My parents are kinda hippies) Dad had boxes for glass (clear, green, and brown), tin cans, an aluminum cans (wasn't much plastic back then, and what there was you couldn't take anywhere anyway). When the boxes were full, we'd go to the scrap metal place and sell the stuff, then usually blow the profits on ice cream on the way home.

nice story, lundah . .! !

I like that . .

and yes, I am most generous in my recycle effort . .

only . .I am sometimes embarassed with my contribution of alcholic containers . .

so many times I will take mine to the curb at 1:00 in the a.m. . .

lots of walk-by traffic here . .

I can just see the stares it would get . .

the guys come at, like dark15, around here . . so it is always gone by the time the sun comes up . . ! !

works for me . . ! !

We have one recycling bin for containers (aluminum cans, and plastic beverage containers) and one for paper products (newspapers and magazines)

So we put the two bins out each monday morning.
Same here in Volusia County. Collection is on Thursday in my neighborhood. Would I be so conscientious if it wasnt so easy?? I would like to think so :)

Sadly, I actually work at the County Recyling Center and do not recycle jack shiznit anymore since moving..I need to get back into it.
There has been a major increase of people recyling in my county now compared to when I started there ten years ago .

Also take athletic shoes to a local store that recycles them, though I now see that Sports Authority will recycle athletic shoes as well.
We have the same program here... no need to sort anything, just throw it all in! While all of the neighbors' regular garbage cans are overflowing, ours are usually 3/4 full and our recycling is overflowing

I would also like to comment further about recycling being a law in WI... in all of my travels, I must say that they have the nicest rest stops with the most detailed recycling programs I have ever seen... heck, they have a different recycling can for each color of glass!

We have a recycling program at school also... but you know teenagers. If they have a piece of paper to throw away, and there is a regular and recycle can right next to each other, the average high school kid will be a little schmuck and throw the paper into the regular garbage  ...And they say ignorance is bliss

Never did growing up.
Never did most of my life.
Owned a house with a recycle pick up for 11 years, and did cause ex did it growing up in NJ.
Live in apartments the last few years, and they don't.
So I don't at home. I'm not driving my trash someplace to dump it.
It's a good thing to do for some products, but it's not available for me to do, cept paper at work.

I recycle paper at work. Got a big bin right next to my desk. We also recycle aluminum cans.
