Full Hunter's Moon Tonight...

Post by Tiki Bar »

They say full moons make people a wee bit crazy... I believe it after today!!

The Full Moon occurs at 5:14 PM PDST, plus a partial Lunar Eclipse. If you happen to be up around 5:15AM and the skies are not cloudy, you will notice a slightly strange looking Moon over in the western sky. One side will have a dark reddish color as a result of the edge of the Moon passing through the Earth's shadow. Although the western sky will be reasonably dark around the Moon, the colors of dawn will be seen in the east, as sunrise is only about 1 hour away. Also, this is the first Full Moon after September's Harvest Moon and is called the "Hunter's Moon." Its name comes from the idea that with its low rise angle (as is the case with the Harvest Moon) it appears at nearly the same time each night and could assist hunting in the early night hours.

I believe it too!

The deer have been going crazy today on the island - bucks chasing does - to the point of not letting you out of your car and making a stand when you try to :o

Please refer to "what time do you go to bed" thread (which, by the way, RHYMES) and you will know why my brain is about to turn into pea soup and I missed it too!

It gets its name from hunters who tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the winter ahead.

BLOOD MOON September 23 - October 22

also known as Harvest Moon, and Hunters Moon. This is the annual slaughter of all but breeding stock that took place at this time of the year. This is the time of seeking inner peace and truth. The zodiac association is Libra.
Marking the season when domestic and wild animals were sacrificed for winter provisions.

At this time of year the abundance of fruit and vegetables begins to slow. It is a time when our ancient ancestors gathered what they could store and then supplemented their Winter diets either by hunting wild animals or by slaughtering domestic ones. So this Lunar month is called the Blood Moon.
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..
