Do they search your luggage before boarding? Was just curious if it was possible to sneak a few bottles of booze (and maybe a blender) on board.

I bought it @ the first port.....

A blender isnt lethal.... bring it.....!

This particular cruise (my 1st) will only have one stop, and it's 2 days into the trip.

Worst they can do is confiscate the booze, right? Not like I drink expensive stuff anyway.

I've never spent more than $10 for a blender...not counting the 12v tailgating one.

pack it in your checked luggage.. that is your best bet for getting it on board. Also.. check out www.cruisecritic.com it is a forum filled with information for 1st time cruisers. i am taking a weekend cruise this weekend.. hopefully Wilma won't be too much of a pest!

For security all cruise lines now scan luggage. They are not as intense as the airlines and I've never had them look through a bag just xray it. As far as bring beverages on board it really depends on the cruise line some are stricter than others. Caribbean itineraries are worst than others. I have always been able to bring aboard wine but some harder liquors maybe a problem. But at the same time I bought a bottle of vodka on board in the duty free shop to take home and they let us bring it back to our cabin, needless to say it didn't make it home. Usually they don't let you have them until the end of the cruise. I have never tried to bring aboard a blender but I would advise make sure its a cheap one just in case. Your cabin stewart can keep you well supplied with ice. Bon Voyage!!!!!!

You may want to transfer the liquor into another container. Preferably plastic like a cleaned out bottle of mouthwash. Get the big ones like they sell at BJ's etc. That way if it does get X-rayed they don't see a liquor shaped bottle. Also a good idea to wrap it in plastic in case it leaks. If you are flying to the port, buy it when you get there, less chance of breakage enroute.

If you can afford a cruise, you can afford to buy a margarita or 30

I've been on 2 and can't remember my luggage being searched.

They won't bother anything in checked luggage.

On our cruise we boarded in San Jaun. It was pouring so we went back to the ship. Stopped in at the duty free shop there and put the bottles in our kids' backpacks. We just walked right on the ship. They weren't x-raying bags of people getting back on the ship. Our girls were mortified!:lol:

I thought I was so smart one day...going to the on board duty free shop and stocking up on tequila for the week...only problem was after I bought it...they told me they had to hold it until the cruise was over...guess they aren't as stupid as I had hoped.

Celebrity Cruise lines are brutal, and they will confiscate your liquor and hold it till the end of your trip. Most of the others are cool with it. The wife and I have taken several cruises and brought all our liquor on board. Ordered coke, tonic, club soda and mad our own. Sometimes we have even brought our own soda, tonic and club soda.

What Cruise line are you going on?

The last cruise I took was about 7 yrs ago. I went on Royal Carribean with 4 2liters of diet coke and a 5th of Appleton (enuf to get by with until we hit Jamaica...) No one looked twice. When in Jamaica I bought a case and again...no worries... didnt even have to pay duty in Miami... Guess I got lucky!

Just remember to seal the bottles in resealable plastic baggies. The lower pressure in the plane at altitude can cause them to leak.

what line & ship will you be on and where are you stopping???

We'll be on Royal Carribean's Grandeur of the Seas. The only stop is Cozumel. Neither of us are really sure we'll dig the cruise scene, so this will be a nice short, relatively cheap test.
