Annapolis/Texas/Walker & Buffett

Post by Goodman »

Mrs Goodman and I just got back from three days down in Maryland. We celebrated 25 years filing a joint return. :-)

Annapolis was great and I had my JJW shirt on since we were I'm told, south of the Mason-Dixon line. Had lunch at the Ram's Head Tavern which houses a great folk/country music venue a bit smaller than The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. As it happens, Bruce Cockburn was appearing on Monday nite (Pacin the Cage). Couldn't make the show. JJW will be there in early March 2006. The "harbor" was filled with boats some having Buffett references including "Tin Cup Chalice".

I espied a bar called "Armadillo" hoping to grab a t-shirt for Goodman, Jr. :-( No luck, nothing in black.

I kept thinkin about JB writing that he almost was a "Naval Academy grad" ("We are the People")

Anyway, if you haven't been there and like boats, bars and can sing a ballad- you will love Annapolis.

Good to be back in ether :-)

Almost south of the Mason/Dixon line?

My Parrothead friend, Annapolis is due south of the Mason-Dixon line (and technically also due west, since the line continues down the Delaware/Maryland border).

Goodman,
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

Next time you're in 'Naptown I'd like to buy you a beer.
I can be there in less than half an hour, and it's one of my favorite places this side of the Caymans.

You're on. :-) Coincidence- my buddy who joined us with his wife is also Dave. What do you think of Amarillos versus Ram's Head?

Armadillo's is a joint by the Dock where you go for a beer and a bite, or to meet up with somebody. A nice place -- been there awhile, but not old-school (as far as dockside joints go). Kind of a "see-and-be-seen" place.

The Ram's Head started out as a basement brewpub, and grew into a live music performance hall -- with great beer and reasonable food. It's where you spend an evening. It's also some blocks away from the Dock, so if you sailed into Annapolis it's a long walk back to your boat.

I grew up in Annapolis (although now I live in the Hurricane State, aka Florida!) and am glad that you enjoyed your visit! Rams Head & Armadillos are 2 of my favorite spots & great places for live music. Next time, be sure to stop by Cantlers for crabs (www.cantlers.com).... its one of Jimmy's "Top 10 Greatest Places for a Waterside Drink" (according to USA Today) - he used to stop by there everytime he played at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
