After visiting the real South the past year..and living here since June..I can tell you I'd take grits anytime over that nasty scrapple...grits are from corn (maze) not strange parts of a pig...

I've seen scrapple made..no way am I gonna eat that chit. It's just nasty.

You have to think of grits as a vegetable. which it is..not a cereal like cream of wheat or malt-o-meal..eat grits with (real) cheeze, or with scrambled eggs. Don't ever put sugar on them, or if you do..don't let anyone see you do it..not here in the South anyway.

They start 'um out young here in the South, eating grits. I've learned to cook them properly and eat them the way their supposed to be eaten..

I've lived in the South for a long time, and love most "Southern" foods:
Black eyed peas, fried okra, fried catfish, most anything Cajun, chicken fried steak with cream gravy... all wonderful

Grits I still dont understand.
Maybe if someone can show me a "grit" I might be willing to try grits, but they just don't look like something that should be eaten!

it's made from corn..do you know what hominy is...well,,grits are actually hominy grits..they are ground real fine.. the word..grits are (is) one of those words that are plural I think..you'll not have a singular..grit (that's for dirt and sand...you're a parrothead,...you gotta understand sand grit)

grits..ground hominy corn

I've not googled it, or dogpile.com for that matter..I'm sure either can define better for you, what grits really are..I've never seen them ground..gotta be easier to see than that pigs head boiling in a pot..

I guess because both have questionable origins and just enough pig in them to pique your interest.

Nooo no no..not at all..corn..not wheat..and it's a vegetable..not a grain...and you DON'T put sugar, milk, or cinnamon on grits, like I said..not so anyone can see you, anyway...

Because I might have mentioned in one of the threads yesterday that she's the scrapple of bisexuality.

Sure I have. In fact I've helped make it several times, although it's always been with deer "meat" - same principle, though.
