Banned Members Posting Under Aliases

Post by Jahfin »

Since the other thread has been locked (imagine that), I have little recourse than to pose this question in a thread of it's own:

To the mods: if a member is banned and they sign back into BN under an alias and the mods know it's a banned member is phjim notified of this?

I was previously told in the now locked thread by Tiki bar that "private conversations are intended as such". Well, since no names have been mentioned, this is not a privacy issue but a case of a moderator evading a perfectly legitmate question, one they are fully capable of answering but simply refuse to.

Jah, with all do respect, and I do mean that, I really think that's a question for phjim via PM, not something for the public board. It's his board and his decision; continuing to push on this topic publicly is unnecessary and wearing, sets you up for even more harassment from other members, and is poor treatment of the moderators (who do us a good service).

and they don't get paid for their services, nor is this a paid membership board. As far as I can see it, it's that simple.

:o :o

So what has Troy been doing with the checks I send him every month. I mean, he is a licensed agent for BN Board dues collection, isn't he?

None of which has anything to do with the question. First I was told to ask Jim (which is the usual response around here next to locking and/or deleting a thread) when a moderator could just as well answer the question. I was then told it was a matter of privacy even though no names were mentioned. As far as respect towards the mods, maybe you missed my post in the other thread but I mentioned that and this question isn't meant as any form of disrespect towards them, Jim or this board. They can keep hiding behind the "ask Jim" thing or try to turn into a privacy issue (which it isn't) if they want to but we all know they can answer the question, it's really not that difficult of a question a perfectly warranted one considered I was banned and obeyed the rules of the ban while other banned members are allowed to continue to post here.

I'm personally very curious about it too. Why the mods and/or PHJim would want to keep it "private" is another story that I don't think will be answered. But I am curious.

I fail to see where there's a privacy issue. It's not like I said, "why is 'so and so', who's been banned but is still allowed to post here under another name" but that isn't what I asked.

Question..... how do we really know that someone who has been banned is posting under a new name? (Unless of course they tell us...)

They're usually pretty easy to pick out. Once an a$$hole, always an a$$hole.

Well, since you asked, here's an example.

This is the avatar of ffstick at BW who was admittedly banned from BN:

This is the avatar of the BN poster On the Edge:

Same avatar. Same URL. Same posting style. Same location.

I used pictures with my explanation. I'm much more a visual person.

I do feel Jahfin is asking a legitimate question but is asking the wrong person...I am not slamming or attacking the moddies or Jim,...but it is something I feel and only MY FEELINGS/THOUGHTS, that Jim should share with them and them with us....albeit that is clearly his choice to make......after all if a person is banned or suspended and comes right back......what is the use in banning or suspending them when everyone else must play by the rules???

Granted Moddies do mostly a thankless and unrecognized job......much like a policeman in many ways.......They try to keep the peace as best that they can. Sometimes they arrive too late, They have lives too. Sometimes it seems they are too harsh. They have a decision to make and just like you or me or anyone else they cannot always make everyone happy....Nor can Jim. Hindsight is always 20/20 and perfect vision, but they, all of them, do the best that they can.

They are people that volunteered and accepted the responsibility of the job.....

All that being said, I really would like to see an answer to Jahfin's question.... either in a PM or in the open forum.
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...
