I have DirecTV. Dish is crap. I've never had Comcast.

Or just get DirecTV. You can sign up, get 4 receivers, free Sunday Ticket, and have it added in with your Verizon service. (Can you tell I work for the agency that advertises Verizon?)nycparrothead wrote:DirectTV are a bunch of NFL monopolizing bastards!!! Cancel them!!! Don't sign up for them!!! Dish says they want to keep the cost down for their customers, which i can understand and like, also I have had Dish networks for 5 yrs with no problems i think they are one of the best deals going.land_shark3 wrote:Then wouldn't that be an issue with Dish? Obviously Dish didn't want to pay whatever Comcast was going to charge them.

Well of course you can keep the costs down if you don't carry the channels people want to watch.El mojito wrote:Dish says they want to keep the cost down for their customers, which i can understand and like, also I have had Dish networks for 5 yrs with no problems i think they are one of the best deals going.land_shark3 wrote:Then wouldn't that be an issue with Dish? Last time I looked, ESPN was actually the most expensive channel for a provider to carry. I think they charge over $2 per subscriber.

The searching crap is Dish - not DirecTV (at least not yet). Yes, Verizon does blow, but less than the other companies. DirecTV has live in-game stats and scores while you're watching the game. It's cool. I was in my glory yesterday while you were .... not watching??nycparrothead wrote:AWESOME!!! Well then... In that case I have no clue about DirectTV.. I thought Dish and DirectTV was the same thing...mings wrote:The searching crap is Dish - not DirecTV (at least not yet). nah. Dish, in my experience is worse. I bought the Rugby World Cup from them last year, and then waited up for the Aussie game, at like 2am and then saw nothing. Apparently my receiver was unaware that it was supposed to receive. I gave an hour of my life fighting with Dish to get my $$ back. WTF. DirecTV seems so much better so far.nycparrothead wrote:Well then... In that case I have no clue about DirectTV.. Dish Sends OLN to Penalty Box
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Mike Reynolds 10/21/2005 4:35:00 PM
Dish Network has dumped OLN’s puck.
In a dispute over the presentation of National Hockey League games, EchoStar Communications Corp.’s direct-broadcast satellite service said it has removed the Comcast Corp.-owned network from its air in the wake of demands from OLN to make it more widely available to its customer base.
Dish has been making OLN available to some 3 million of its 11.4 million subscribers, below the 40% threshold the service has been requesting.
Adelphia Communications Corp. recently agreed to make OLN more widely available, while Cablevision Systems Corp. continues to position the network on a $4.95-per-month sports tied that currently only counts 22,000 customers. Comcast has replaced the NHL games with other programming.
OLN and Cablevision are continuing to try to reach a resolution, according to an OLN spokeswoman.
As for Dish’s decision, senior vice president of programming Eric Sahl issued the following statement: “We work hard to provide choice for our customers and to keep prices low. Most of our customers have made the decision that they do not want to pay the additional cost of watching that channel.”
For its part, OLN offered this comment: “We are surprised and disappointed that Dish has unilaterally chosen to stop providing OLN to its customers and denied fans the opportunity to watch sports coverage on OLN. We are also disappointed that EchoStar cut off the ongoing discussions with OLN that were designed to bring OLN's great programming to Dish customers. Fortunately, those customers do have the ability to explore other cable and satellite options that carry OLN.”
