an unopened cup of yogurt that's dated October 24? I left it in the refrigerator here at work before I went on vacation. Think I can still eat it and not get sick?

Open it up, check the consistancy. It's only a couple days out, it's likely OK, but inspect it first.

It should be good past the due date, unless it is lemon flavor. Something about that goes bad quickly....gives you a big chest.

most dates are a sell by date, giving you a few more of flexibility

a few rules to go by....

if milk from the carton looks like cottage cheese and yogurt looks like blue cheese it's probably best to dispose of them.

It's fine. Yogurt is made from bacteria already. The date stamped is a suggested date. SUGGESSTED. You always have some time to add on.

The real question is: What the heck are you doing buying Lemon Chiffon?? That sounds worse than bad yogurt.
