Best wishes to him/her. I ended up having surgery about 6 1/2 years ago and, since then, I've been pretty much OK (knock on wood!). But I certainly remember it well. Ended up having to take a semester off of school and spending about 8 weeks recuperating at my parents' house.

She's doing allright. Had her entire large intestine removed and is currently on Remicade treatments. :-? :-? Glad you have recovered well!

About six years ago I thought I was having a chest grabber and took myself. And this summer I stepped on some glass and put a real deep cut in my foot that would not stop gushing

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
Other than a couple pains in the a$$, I would have to say the day I tore my right ankle to shreads. Doctor took one look at it and said "In about 20 years you are going to wish you had broke this". He was right

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? I am over do for all my mid 40 man checks. I want to go to a completely new Doc, I do not know. The thought of someone I know going up there looking for gold and then seeing them say in church the next Sunday, creeps me out. And I don't think Mrs Bear would let a lady do that to me

4. Do you take vitamins? Only if I remember. Have a large jar of Centrum in the meds cabinet and they have expired with oly about a 1/3 gone

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? I would rather be humped repeatedly by Shane-o than have some guy put the gloved finger there

They've really made some good progress just in the last few years. Prior to my surgery, Remicade wasn't available yet. Good luck to her!

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
I am a walking disaster area, and whenever I did something physical as a kid - 9 times out of 10 ended up at the hospital

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
Passing a kidney stone. I had the pain onset immediately. 3 weeks later, and an appendectimy (they misdiagnosed) and lots of pain and drug shots - I finally passed it. They did not pick it up what it was, until months later, still having "issues" they asked for the kidney test on day one of my pain, and hte specialist said "oh, there is the little bugger" :x   (stopped going to the GP I saw first up from that moment on)

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? Opposite sex for anything.

4. Do you take vitamins? No - they smell

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? Doctor .... see no point in jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane.

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
Nothing in the past few years. Once or twice as a kid.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
Food poisoning.

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? Same sex. Women that are smarter than me intimidate me.

4. Do you take vitamins? Multivitamins, fiber supplements, & fish oil.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? Sky diving. The doctor costs too much and the dentist sucks.

buffettbride wrote:1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
Yes. Once I was snow tubing on a local hill and got nicked by a snowboarder and I thought I needed stiches. Another time in 7th grade, I was playing soccer with my brother and I was goalie, and he kicked a shot at 100% power at point blank range. Hit my finger dead on.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
The soccer incident above. I've been pretty lucky thus far (Knock on wood). Of course that wsa during spring and the tennis season, and I was cleared to play the day after season ended, and coach wouldn't let me play lefty. :x

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? Doesn't really matter.

4. Do you take vitamins? No.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? Sky-Diving, in a heartbeat. That's something that I've always wanted to do. Plus, who wants to go to the doctor, and I don't like the dentist. :-?

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room? Yes, a couple of times when I've had a stomach bug and gotten dehydrated. And, once on a trip in Daytona Beach when I broke out in a really bad rash all over my stomach. This past April, I didn't go through the ER but was directly admitted to the hospital for 8 days for a twisted colon.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had? Definitely the twisted colon. I would not wish that on Bin Ladin. I was completely doubled over. On the way to the hospital, I was laying down in the back of my mom's Ford Explorer. I was like this for roughly 30 hours because they could not find what the problem was. Appendicitis was suspected, but I didn't have the signs of appendicitis. Finally, a second cat scan revealed the twisted colon. The doc comes in and says, "The good news is that it's not your appendix; the bad news is that you have a twisted colon. We need to do surgery to remove part of your colon." I was immediately rushed to the OR. I went from thinking that I might have to have minor surgery to remove my appendix to a full blown emergency surgery, and I had never had any kind of surgery before. But, I was in so much pain that I didn't care. When the doc said that, my only thought was, "Thank God they found the problem. Now, let's go get this fixed so I can quit hurting." Fortunately, everything went fine, and I could not have asked for a better recovery.

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? Would prefer a male (same sex) but wouldn't flip out if I had a female doc.

4. Do you take vitamins? Yes, Centrum.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? The dentist. Jumping out of a plane would scare the hell out of me. And, I'd much rather have my teeth cleaned than get poked and prodded.

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
several times, dislocated platella (in the Army), broken collarbone (frisby football),
broken wrist & thumb (total of 5 breaks at 1 time), stitches in head (bike accident)

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
Knee after I got home or maybe the morning after oral surgery for all wisdom teeth (toss up)

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex?
I guess a woman, my current doc is a woman & during my CPE last week I learned she has small fingers :o

4. Do you take vitamins?
yup & glucosamene chondroiten.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving?
Sky diving, can't wait to!

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
several times...ruptured appendix removed when I was 12, 3 badly broken arms all before I was 10, several kidney stones between the ages of 16-33, 1 burst cyst, and 1 case of food poisoning

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
probably the ovarian cyst

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex?
it really doesn't matter to me...my OBGYN and PCP are both men

4. Do you take vitamins?
vitamins C, E, and B6, and folic acid

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving?
none of the above, but if I had to pick I would say dentist (mine is pretty hot)

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
Yes, four times.
- back when I was 18 and had to get stitches on my right hand knuckle that I sliced open when a glass broke while doing the dishes..
- an ectopic pregnancy.
- when I dislocated my right shoulder in a horse riding accident.
- after a car accident while 11 weeks pregnant.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
Childbirth, hands down!!!!! Both times dragged out over 2 1/2 days! Thank god for drugs!

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? No preference, I go by whether or not I feel comfortable w/ the person.

4. Do you take vitamins? Yes, I take one daily multi-vitamin for women.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? Doctor. As adventurous as I am, I don't see the logic of jumping out of an airplane unless it's absolutely necessary!

edited to add the first er trip for stitches. i completely forgot about that until reading sailingagain's post....

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?
Couple of times. Once for stitches, a few times for smashing up my hand fighting and once for having a kidney stone.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
That's easy. The kidney stone. I have a high threshold for pain, but that just about had me crying like a baby.

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? Not a big deal, but I suppose a man. I think I feel more comfortable with someone that can relate better to my anatomy.

4. Do you take vitamins? One a day multi-vitamin.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? Definitely the doctor. I do annual checkups so I'm not always there because of something bad. I've never been to the dentist where it didn't involve pain. Definitely not skydiving. I'm afraid to fly so the thought of voluntarily jumping out of the plane seems ludicrous to me. :o

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?

Yes. Broken arm as a kid.

A couple of years ago (the ambulance had to come to the office!) when I was having excruciating pains… turns out I had some ovarian cysts burst.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?

This past year when I slammed my finger in a window.

The nurse wanting me to get up and walk after my C- Section.

And the ovarian cyst.

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex?

Doesn’t matter, as long as they’re competent. My OB/GYN is a man.. been going to him since 1978.

4. Do you take vitamins?
Yep, a multi thingy.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving?

Won’t go sky diving. My dentist is great! And I’ve had some fabulous doctors.

1. Have you ever been to the emergency room?

Yup...twice. Once when I broke my arm when I was 9 (but didn't make it to the ER until almost 24 hours later) and this past March when I did a Margaritaville while in FL after the Tampa show. That was my first ambulance ride too.

2. What's the worst pain you've ever had?
Breaking my leg was pretty bad...and the raging infection that started going septic from what turned out to be an infected salivary gland. Of course it took 8 months to diagnose the problem and have surgery to correct it. The initial procedure by a most incompetent doctor was pure hell, and the resulting infections over the next 8 months almost did me in. :-?

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex?
I really don't care, as long as they are competent and don't have the God complex. The medical team I had at UC Davis for my treatment and surgery was OUTSTANDING. They actually teach compassion there. And when I had to go in for an emergency appt and had to see the on call surgeon, I was floored by the fact that he had taken the time to read thru my rather extensive file so he knew what he was dealing with. He didn't want to screw up anything for me or for his coworkers.

4. Do you take vitamins?
Yes, when I remember to.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving?
I'll never jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Hate the dentist, don't mind going to see the doc since usually I'll feel better after I do.
