You've got Gators down there. They are like freakin rabbits up here, give it time. It's called natural selection. Gators select kitties, naturally

This it?

I haven't read all the replies to this yet, so I don't know if this has been mentioned, but we bought a spray called "Cat Away" (no kidding!) to spray on our furniture when we had problems with them scratching it. It smells awful to humans for just a couple seconds, but the smell remains for cats for days. :)

Simple solution... Image
Around the driveway... on the car if necessary.
Reapply periodically, expecially after rains.

Something you can try and it won't really cost you anything is to wet the top, just spray it down with the hose, and as long as it is wet or the cats find out it is wet they should get off of it...and it won't discolor the top......

If you see them in your yard turn a sprinkler on.....maybe you could "strategecialy place" a sprinkler near the car and set a time for it to turn on and off.....If the cat is there, that cat begone...Of course then you might get water spots.

Water guns or squirt bottles work well...cats also hate the hissing soundof the spray bottles. If the cats have adopted you, as most cats will "adopt" people as a project, it may prove more difficult.

Coyote urine should work...I don't know about the other products but make sure you check it for compatibility with your ragtop....example it might breakdown the UV protectorant in it or stain/discolor it....

This is so funny I'm crying. How about a stray dog, that should keep the stray cats away. I really like the alligator idea too. If you want to humanely scare off, threaten a trip to the local vet to have the unwanted intruder(s) "fixed" if they are not proactive in finding another home and soon.

That could work too...unless they are Cajun cats and possible escapees from Katrina or Rita.. then you just gave them a taste of home and they witll never leave. 8)

All kinds of products at Pet Smart:

Also cats don't like aluminum foil. You could put some up there with small rocks holding it down for a couple days, just til they quit coming. :)

I am with ya on the cat on the car - when we had a cat, it did that - paw prints all over the place. I am now allergic to cats also - so would be totally unimpressed if it were me.

Now ... what to do about the birds that wanna poop all over my car

See...you should have let the cat hang around..

Do what ever you can to get rid of it, as someone who had to pull one out from the fan belts of the engine it's not something you want to wait for

The cat probably sleeps up there until the dew falls...I am here in southeast Georgia....see them on top of cars in the day or at night BEFORE the dew falls but naever after, they like to sleep where it is warm, dry and up high.
