Building Boat in Northwest
During the concert in Portland, Jimmy said that the good news is that it looks like he is going to be building a new boat up in the Northwest, so he will be coming back more often.

I think there is a Boat building School in Port Townsend.
Don't Know if he needs to go to school, but this place has the facilities to build boats. Not sure what kind Jimmy is building, maybe a sailboat.

I wondered about those comments also... I know he mentioned several times that he will have more reasons to keep coming back here.
At the time, it never occured to me that he would be building it himself.... possibly??? And at the time I thought "how long can it really take to build a boat... houses go up pretty quickly.... then I thought... Could he possibly really be spending more time here... with NO hurricanes, moderate weather, and no better place in the entire world to live than the Pacific Northwest... possibly?????? I thought at the time he would be mooring it here.
The sailing and yacht community is huge in Seattle and sailing the San Juans is amazing. If I were a bazillionaire, I would store my boat somewhere "where the weather fits my clothes." meaning .. not much chance of your boat being hit by foul weather..........with the possible chance of loosing it all.
Besides we are closer to Las Vegas, which he seems to enjoy and we are closer to the Hawaiian Islands which he has said he really loves.
Isn't it fun just to wonder??????????????????
The show was the bEST ever.. he looked great (10th floor).. and he winked at my bestest BN'er Island Hopper who was much closer.
Long live the King

Building a boat the size of the one Jimmy would most likely get can take some time! Unless you do it full time..... and have a crew to lend a hand. I have 2 friends who built a boat...
One friend built a 29 ft Island Packett sailboat in his back yard after work and on weekends. Took 3 years. That was in 1979 and its still floating!
Another talented man was my paternal grandfather. He was the sea captain for the Dupont's (as in paint) yacht. He built a 40 ft ketch kat sailboat in Sag Harbor NY during the winters when he was off duty. Took him 5 years.
If Jimmy is building his own boat..... he won't be touring! Just my thoughts......

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER OF BN FEUD VII
This is all a huge guess!
I googled for Buffett and boat building...I found an article about a guy named Jay Hotchkiss, who is president of a company called John Jay Marine in Portland, Maine. He does use a boat building facility in Washington state to build what he calls Character Boats. The article I found is worth reading, even if I'm sailing way off course!!!
Maybe Jimmy has contracted him to build the Lucretia????
Here is an article about Character Boats.

"I think the smaller niche builders will survive because there will always be a demand for these types of boats," he added. Surprisingly, he said about 50% of his buyers of traditional powerboats are former sailboat owners. He even sold one to entertainer Jimmy Buffett, quite a character in his own right, who wanted a very classy tender to go with his new 91-foot Cheoy Lee Expedition sailboat.

Jimmy just had a new sailboat built in Maine last year. "Chill" is in some of this year's videos.
Soooo.... Maybe Jimmy's adding a west coast boat to his fleet.
Be interesting to see what he's building

There are two companies here in the Seattle area that he could be working with.
It kinda depends on if he's going cruising or fishing . . .
Delta Marine builds some pretty nice yachts http://www.deltamarine.com/nc_fleet.html
and Nichols Brothers builds some pretty nice workboats http://www.nicholsboats.com/
Jimmy, if you're in the area and need some local knowledge, gimme a call!

Yes. Jimmy's boat was built at their place in Southwest Harbor, Maine.island_hopper wrote:Aren't they on the East coast too?SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Hinckley built "Chill"conched wrote:I just listened to the Vegas Show again and on SOASOAS Jimmy says, "New boat by Hinckley, eh?" Is this like the "Chill?"

Here is some copy from this web site.
For DS42 hull #1, which has teak decks, a lifting keel, carbon spars, in-boom furling, and electric auxiliary power, we went with a full-batten mainsail and a powerful 105% partial overlap jib with standard sheeting. To turbo the boat’s light-air performance with the wind forward of the beam, we designed a 1.7-ounce Soft NorLam™ G-0 asymmetric spinnaker that is tacked forward of the headstay on a Harken soft-luff furler. The G-0 features a clear Tedlar sun shield so that the sail can live hoisted up and furled at the dock or mooring, ready to go. For downwind sailing, we designed a G-2 Gennaker™ with a SnufferPlus™ sleeve for easy hoisting and dousing.
Hinckley DS42 Hull #1, whose owner cruises the Chesapeake, carries Marathon 3DL working sails. Hull #2 is owned by singer/sailor Jimmy Buffett, who plans to do a lot of knocking around in breezy Caribbean conditions; the working sails are of robust Gatorback Spectra/Carbon. Hull #3, for a New England owner, will carry Marathon 3DL sails.

Yes, but Chill is light blue.
To be fair to Hinckley, they have more class than to go trumpeting the names of their clients on their web site. The copy in the post above is from the North Sails website. (http://na.northsails.com/NortheNews/May05.htm)
