Australia - the friendliest nation in the world!
Australia has been awarded the title of ‘The World’s Friendliest Nation’ according to the latest Anholt-GMI Nation Brands Index (NBI) released today.
“This latest survey confirms what many international tourists to Australia already know: that Australians are welcoming and friendly,” said Scott Morrison, Managing Director Tourism Australia.
“This latest Anholt-GMI index looked at how nations ranked each other. The poll of 10,000 people around the world found that Aussies were seen as the friendliest people across the board.
“Both Japan and the USA ranked Australians highest (after themselves) when it came to people, reflecting their strong affection for Australia.
“Australia shares a strong affinity with the UK and Canada with each of these three countries ranking the other two first and second in terms of overall nation brand.
“While it is great to be loved (as survey after survey confirms) it is even better to be visited and Tourism Australia is working hard to convert this fondness for Australia into actual bookings,” Scott Morrison concluded.
Earlier this year, the Anholt-GMI index rated Australia as the world’s best nation brand as well as the best tourism brand and over the last month, Australia has been named the happiest and coolest country in two other surveys.
The Anholt-GMI Nation Brands Index is the first analytical ranking of the world’s nation brands. The poll, taken each quarter in 25 developed and developing countries, measures the power and appeal of a nation’s brand image, and identifies how consumers around the world see the character and personality of the brand.
